Tennison/Chesterfield, Roman numerals, the arch painted with castle ruins the spandrels with hanging game, subsidiary date and seconds dials, twin winding holes, eight day movement striking on a bell, the hood with swan neck pediment, and lotus capped pillars, arched rectangular door to waist, bracket feet, 228cm high, c.1835Reuben Tennison was born in Hornsea, (Yorks ER) 1799 was apprenticed 1813-1820, married Mary Thompson at Chesterfield in 1831 and had two sons and a daughter. He worked from New Square and later from Market Place in Chesterfield recorded 1827 to 1849 when he appears to have died. An oak cased clock by him was sold locally in 1991.
