Malet enquires of her correspondent, in part, 'Wd it be too much to ask you to add the address to the enclosed? I have wanted so much to meet Mr. Robertson' further alluding to a 'curious little situation' in which Malet asserts, 'Some people say I am a witch; and that afternoon I half believed it - But think my magic is white magic, not black - I hope so, any how' continuing, 'Are you free on Wednesday, after four? - Valentine Ferguson will be here, and possibly Thomas Hardy of “Tess” fame. I find he is in London, & he intimates that he wishes in all kindness - to abuse me slightly by word of mouth, I have begged him to come in that afternoon and administer castigation. Oh! How you play! - does it make life more or less sad, that you can speak out, in these wonderful sounds…' With minor dust stains and light age wear.
