Arnold, London, Invt. et Fecit, no. 1977, the gilt chain fusee movement with engraved cock, diamond endstone and blued steel helical spiral, two armed 'Z' balance with mono metallic outer compensation arms, Arnold spring detent escapement, the detent sunk into the top plate, jewelled to the second with screwed chatons, blued steel set up, signed white enamel dial with Roman numerals, large subsidiary seconds, blued steel spade hands, in plain silver consular case, case maker 'TH' (Thomas Hardy), 54mm; with a contemporary mahogany two tier observation box with ebony and brass stringing and numbered plaque Reference: Staeger, 100 Years of Precision Timekeepers from John Arnold to Arnold & Frodsham 1763-1862, pp. 236 and 237 John Roger Arnold (1769-1843) served as apprentice for his father and Abraham Louis Breguet. His father and he founded the company Arnold & Son in 1787, a business that John Roger continued after his father's death in 1799. He became Master of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1817 and took John Dent into partnership between 1830 and 1840. After his death in 1843 the company was purchased by Charles Frodsham.
An American Knights of Pythias masonic style sword c1865-70 with metal scabbard. A chain runs from the Knights Head pommel to crossguard and shield with emblazened 'U R', the reverse has 'F C B' on crossguard for Friendship, Charity & Benevolence. Leather covered wood grip. Blade made by Pettibone Mfg. Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. Owners name engraved on blade 'C.B.Kerr'.The Pythians were the first Fraternal Organization chartered by the United States Congress and at the urging of President Lincoln in 1864. It's goal was to bring the both sides of a warring nation back to peace and brotherhood.
An 18th century Channel Islands silver mote spoon, maker's mark PA, probably for Pierre Amiraux, Jersey circa 1740, the pierced oval bowl with a shell heel, mullets and scroll decoration, the tapering stem scratch initialled S.L.C, length 15.7cm, approx. weight 0.3oz. For an image of the maker's mark see Mayne, R., Channel Islands Silver, Phillimore, 1985, figure 4, page 24. This mote spoon is also illustrated in Delieb, E., Investing in Silver, Barrie and Rockcliff, 1968, page 23. Delieb attributes this mote spoon as American and by Pygan Adams, New London Connecticut, circa 1740.

A George III silver plate, by Digby Scott and Benjamin Smith, London 1804 also stamped R.B & R, for Rundell, Bridge and Rundell, shape circular form, ribbon reed and vine and grape border, engraved with a crest, diameter 26.2cm, approx. weight 23.5oz. The crest is that of William Lowther, 1st Earl of Lonsdale, Co. Westmorland.

A George III silver two-bottle oil and vinegar stand, by R. Piercy, London 1767, double circular form, gadroon wirework frame, leaf capped scroll handle, on four scroll legs terminating in shell pad feet, with two silver-mounted oil and vinegar bottles with scroll handles, fluted thumb-pieces and engraved with a crest, height 23cm, approx. weight 16oz. The crest is that of Knatchbull, created baronets of Mersham Hatch, Kent in 1641. Most likely for Sir Edward Knatchbull, (1704-1789) 7th Baronet, MP for Armagh.
