QSA - 6115 Pte S Batchelor RL: WT: Surrey Regt KSA - 6115 Pte S Batchelor The Queens R Stephen Batchelor was born in Reigate Surrey, he attested age 19 stating he was still serving with the Militia. Saw during the Boer War and was awarded the Queens South Africa Medal with bars Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal and Kings South Africa Medal with bars 1901 and 1902. In December 1902 he spent two weeks in prison for an undisclosed offence. Discharged to reserves in 1907. Medals confirmed on the roll and in his service papers. CBE GROUP TO MAJOR ALAN SEMPILL HINSHELWOOD DEVON REGT. Alan Sempill Hinshelwood was born in London on 21st June 1884. On the 12th September 1914, he was commissioned into the 9th battalion of the Devon Regiment. Landed in France on 28th July 1915, severely wounded by machine gun bullets on the first day of the Battle of Loos, 25th September 1915 and sent home. Upon recovery, Hinshelwood was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps and in March 1916 was made seconded in command of the 69th Company MGC on the Western Front. Severely wounded again on 8th July 1916 during the Battle of the Somme at Contalmaison, once again he was sent back to the UK for treatment. In July 1917 he was given command of the 122nd MGC and fought during the Battle of Passchendaele. He served on the Italian Front in November 1917 and also fought in the German Spring Offensive in March 1918. In August 1918 he was invalided home with Gastritis and retired with the rank of Major on 27th September 1919. Served as a Captain in the Home Guard during World War Two and on 11th June 1942, was awarded the C.B.E. for his role as Chairman of the Force Offices Committee. 1914/15 Star = 2 Lieutenant A S Hinshelwood Devon R British War Medal & Victory Medal = Major A S Hinshelwood

Lieut H E Skeffington Army Printing and Stationary Service Harold Ernest Skeffington was born in Kensington in 1878, the son of Martin Southwell Skeffington, a Publisher. Harold also worked in Publishing and during the Great War served as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Printing and Stationary Services. Entitled to the pair only, to France 15th December 1917. Correctly impressed - 2.Lieut H E Skeffington Condition = GVF. Kings South Africa Medal to 3391 Pte R Eden RL Fusiliers Robert Henry Eden was born in Hammersmith in 1871. He attested on 22nd November 1889, joining the 5th battalion of the Royal Fusiliers. Medal is confirmed on roll and in-service papers. Service number differs on roll 3394. Correctly impressed 3391 Pte R Eden Rl Fusiliers Condition = GVF. 1914/ 15 Star and Victory Medal to 2.Lieut H N S Skeffington RFC Herbert Neville Southwell Skeffington was born in Kensington on 25th June 1884, a border at Charter House School. In civilian life, he was a photographer living in Australia when the war was declared. Skeffington attested on 18th August 1914 joining the 3rd Field Company Engineers Australian Imperial Force. He saw service in Gallipoli until evacuation in September 1915 due to Dysentery. Commissioned in the field as a Second Lieutenant on 15th June 1916, promoted to Lieutenant 10th June 1916 and discharged to RFC. Serving as a Pilot on 57 Squadron, which operated DH4 Bombers, by June 1917 he was a Pilot Officer. Sadly killed in action on 28th July 1917 when he was lost over German lines, having been shot down by Pour Le Merite winner Eduard Ritter Von Dostler. Skeffington's Observer, Lieutenant Malloch was taken, prisoner. Hebert was laid to rest in Wielsbeke Communal Cemetery. 1914/15 Star correctly impressed - 4 SPR H N Skeffington 3/F.C ENG AIF Victory Medal correctly impressed - 2. Lieut H N S Skeffington. CASED LUFTWAFFE COMBINED PILOT AND OBSERVERS BADGE WITH DIAMONDS Exceptionally rare Luftwaffe Combined Pilot and Observers Badge with Diamonds. Type B set with imitation diamonds engraved IMIT on the reverse of the wreath and maker Marked RS ( R. Stubiger Wien VI), with pre Second World War Austrian silver hallmarks. Multi-piece construction, the eagle is held in place with rivets. The badge is housed in its original deluxe case with miniature stick pin example. The case and stick pin are both exceedingly rare. To find a complete set is almost unheard of. The Type A sets were awarded at the same time and usually kept safely at home. Type B sets were worn on active duty. Only 50 known examples exist today. A rare opportunity to acquire perhaps the most sought-after Luftwaffe badge.
LALIQUE; an orange/yellow tinted shallow bowl decorated with three lily pads, etched signature 'R Lalique, France' and numbered 383, diameter 21.75cm. CONDITION REPORT: The tips of the three feet each have small chips where they have been placed down over the years, some surface fractures to the interior of the bowl, otherwise ok.
LALIQUE; a clear glass globular decanter and stopper, the side of the stopper and neck of the body decorated with bands of stylised circles and bearing traces of original painted decoration, etched signature to base 'R Lalique, France' and with indistinct number, height 19.75cm. CONDITION REPORT: The stopper appears to have been dropped which has caused internal fractures to the lower section of the stopper and tiny chips to the rim of the upper section, the base has light surface scratches but otherwise is ok.
