DARRÉ RICHARD WALTHER: (1895-1953) German high-ranking SS, a leading Nazi “Blut und Boden” Ideologist (“Blood and Soil”). He served as Reich Minister of Food and Agriculture 1933-42. Signed 8vo card `R,Walther Darré´, in bold black ink, beneath a 2 x 3.5 printed photograph of Darré affixed to the card, the image showing him in a head and shoulders pose. Dated in Berlin, 14th July 1933. Accompanied by the original T.L.S., one page, folio, Berlin, 26th august1933, on the Reichsminister of Food and Agriculture printed stationery, to Walter Burri, in German. Also including the original Ministry printed-stationery envelope, post-stamped. G £100-150
GEORGE III: (1738-1820) King of the United Kingdom 1760-1820. L.S., Madame ma Soeur, Votre bon Frere, George R, as King, one page, 4to, Court at St. James's, 6th August 1783, to the Queen of the Two Sicilies, in French. The King informs his correspondent about the happy childbirth event of the Princess, thanking the Lord for such gift, and stating `The birth of a Princess…which represents an increase of my happiness..´. With integral address leaf, bearing two red wax seals with ribbons, in very fine condition. Few very small tears to the upper edge. G £300-400Although the letter is addressed to the Queen of the Two Sicilies, a Kingdom proclaimed in 1816, the letter is most probably written to Maria Carolina of Austria (1752-1814) Queen of Naples and Sicily, as wife of King Ferdinand IV & III. Born an Austrian Archduchess, she was daughter of Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Francis I.Princess Amelia of the United Kingdom (1783-1810) Youngest daughter of King George III and Queen consort Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. She died at the early age of 27.
BOSCO HENRI: (1888-1976) French Novelist. Nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature four times. An excellent set of two documents. A.L.S., Henri Bosco, two pages, small 8vo, Rabat, Morocco, [July 1934], to M. Averseng, in French. The letter bears the printed heading “Avenue de Marrakech, Rabat”, and Bosco explains that he won´t be able to travel to France, saying `..we are disappointed. What a sadness. Rabat is a ghost town. The typed copy of the novel being finished, I would like you to read it…´ Together with an Autograph Manuscript, being a poem of 36 verses, two pages, 4to, in French. Bosco annotates at the head `On the occasion of Michelle´s birth / Not be read to her mother (nor to her Grandmother, nor to anyone´, signing to the border `Le R´bati´ being the phonetic pronunciation of Moroccan´s word “The Rabati” or inhabitant of Rabat. Overall age wear and creasing, otherwise about G £150-200
HUGO VICTOR: (1802-1885) French Poet and Novelist. Autograph addressed envelope, boldly signed and underlined `V.H.´ with his initials. The unfolded 8vo paper envelope is addressed to `Monsieur André Lavertujon, 54 r. de la Victoire´ a republican journalist, diplomat and politician. Area of paper loss to the upper edge as a result of the opening of the letter. Folded, with small overall age wear. F £120-200
JAMES II & VII: (1633-1701) King of England & Ireland and King of Scotland (as James VII) 1685-88. A good A.L.S., with his initials J R, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d., to the Duke of Lauzun, in French. The exiled King writes, in full, 'The Queen and I have forgotten to ask if we could see the flags and banners when we were in Marle, even though we intended to do so. I don't know if the King would like to send them to us, for us to see them before they are sent to Paris'. With integral address leaf (small area of paper loss and a couple of neat tears, the latter professionally repaired, evidently caused by the breaking of the seal). A letter of good association. VG £1000-1500 Antoine Nompar de Caumont (1632-1723) Duc de Lauzun. French Courtier and Soldier noted for his command of a French Expeditionary Brigade which served alongside the Jacobite Irish Army during the Williamite War and at the Battle of the Boyne. In 1685 the Duc de Lauzun travelled to England to seek his fortune under King James II, whom he had served as Duke of York in Flanders. Lauzun rapidly gained great influence at the English court and in 1688 he arranged the journey into exile of Mary of Modena, whom he accompanied to Calais under strict instructions from King Louis XIV. After the defeat at the Battle of Boyne in July 1690, King James II had returned to France where he spent the rest of his life in exile at Saint-Germain, protected by King Louis XIV.
CHALIAPIN FEODOR: (1873-1938) Russian opera Singer. Signed and inscribed 5.5 x 7.5 photograph by Chaliapin, the image depicting the Russian bass in a half length pose. Signed in bold black ink `To R,M, Kirschner, F.Chaliapin´ to a clear area of the image. Framed in brown wood colour and glazed to an overall size of 6 x 8. EX £60-90
CLAIR RENÉ: (1898-1981) French Film Director. A good and interesting manuscript signed `R. C´, crossed, one page, 4to, n.p., n.d., on his personal printed stationery, to Colette Monceau, in French. Clair refers to Chaplin and Lubitsch and cinema, stating in part `Chaplin´s masterpiece has created a style which Lubitsch was inspired by, and which trace can be found in his best comedies. This ascertainment do not diminish the author of Trouble in Paradise. To have masters do not have to make you blush..´ With multiple corrections and amendments. Together with T.L.S., René Clair, one page, 8vo, 12th March 1971, to Colette Monceau, referring to the graphology study of his writing. Accompanied by the original envelope. VG, 2 £60-90Colette Monceau (1921-2016) French Graphologist and Author. She was an autograph Collector.
COLLISHAW RAYMOND: (1893-1976) Canadian Fighter Pilot. Commander of the Royal Air Force. Collishaw was the highest scoring RNAS flying ace and the second highest scoring Canadian pilot of the First World War. He was noted as a great leader in the air, leading many of his own formations into battle. As a member of the RAF during WWII, he commanded the 204 Group, which later became the Desert Air Force in Northe Africa. D.S., `R. Collishaw´, one page, 4to, brown paper, Dorignies, France, 22nd July 1918. The partially printed document, completed in typescript, is a Combat Report (headed Combats in the Air), corresponding to the 203 Squadron, aeroplane Sopwith Camels D.3417 & D.9618, at 3-40a.m., the Remarks being `Special Mission bombing and shooting up Dorignies Aerodrome.´, and the narrative stating, in part, '…Captain Rochford attacked first from about 200 feet and I observed one of his bombs set a hangar on fire. His other three bombs burst among the aerodrome living quarters. He then attacked with his machine guns all the buildings and hangars…´, further saying `..I then dropped my four bombs on the living quarters at the northern end of the aerodrome from about 150 feet…´ Upper right corner clipped and a binder hole to the upper left, not affecting the text or signature. BONHEUR ROSA: (1822-1899) French Painter and Sculptor. A.L.S., `R. Bonheur´, three pages, 8vo, n.p., 4th November 1881, to Monsieur Gambart, in French. Bonheur in her particular hand-writing states in part `.. I have only two or three days more to spend on my studies, and then I am going to do the whiskers of the lions and I will hasten them to you… You should have received the eagle. We will go to Paris to spend several days..´ EX £200-300
PATTON GEORGE S.: (1885-1945) General of the United States Army, Commander of the U.S. Third Army following the Allied invasion of Normandy during WWII. T.L.S., `G.S Patton Jr.´, one page, 4to, 25th July 1945, on the printed letterhead of the Headquarters of the Third United States Army, Office of the Commanding General, to Mr. Gordon R. Cotton. The present letter is signed only two months after the surrender of Hitler´s Nazi army and six months before he passed away in an auto accident in Germany. Accompanied by the original Headquarters Third United States Army printed heading envelope, with the typed text above “General G. S. Patton, Jr.”, with an ink post stamp of the U.S Army Postal Service. Folded, otherwise in very fine condition. About EX £600-900
HESS RUDOLF: (1894-1987) German Reichsminister, Adolf Hitler´s Deputy in the Nazi Party. Signed small clipped piece `R. Hess´, affixed to an irregularly clipped page, beneath a printed heading clipped from a larger page, also affixed, saying “National Socialist German Worker's Party. The representative of the Führer”, alongside the Nazi eagle with swastika. F £200-300

WILHELM II: (1859-1941) German Emperor & King of Prussia 1888-1918. D.S., Wilhelm R[ex], two pages, folio, Oschatz, 13th September 1912, in German. The attractive partially printed document, in German, is a patent given by Wilhelm II, in his capacity as King of Prussia, to Engineer of the Pionerkorps Captain Von der Heyden. Boldly signed in black ink at the foot by the Kaiser, a very large and good example signature. Also bearing alongside the Emperor´s signature a large and very attractive Hohenzollern coat of arms blind embossed seal. Also bearing a small Royal ink stamp to the upper left front. With blank integral leaf. Folded, otherwise about VG £120-150
BALBO ITALO: (1896-1940) Italian Marshal of the Air Force and heir apparent to Benito Mussolini. A.L.S, Balbo, one page, oblong 8vo, R[ome], 28th January 1933, to Mr. Festa, on the printed stationery of the "Ministro Dell´Aeronautica", in Italian. Balbo states `I have been informed by Nello about his wife´s illness. I don´t want to delay my message to him with my best and deep good wishes.´ Folded. VG £100-150Amerigo Festa (1885-194?)
