Fraser W. : The Scotts of Buccleuch, 1878. Vols. I & II. Qto Hb. Maroon textured cloth, gilt, teg. Limited edition, No. 45 of 150. Presentation certificate dedicated to The Earl of Minto loosely laid in. The two volumes contain a wide range of illustrative features including coloured & tinted lithographic plates, photo litho, tinted facsimiles. CONDITION REPORT: Binding a little worn at the extremities; vol 1 has been professionally re-backed with the original spine laid on. Both are very sound. One plate in volume 1 is loose and appears to have been left out during production of the book - it retains the printer's instructions in pencil as a footnote. Generally speaking, a very good set. Interestingly, there is an Invoice from Bernard Quaritch in vol. 2.dated 1963 which features this set amongst other titles. The books were purchased for £6. 10s by a Mr. R. Stewart from Canada so at some point it appears they have crossed the Atlantic!
