A gentleman's gold pair cased watch, the white enamel dial having black Roman hour numerals, Arabic outer numerals and gold 'arrow' hands, the chain fusee movement having Egyptian pillars, a verge escapement with a pierced and engraved backcock to the plain, three arm brass balance, the backplate engraved with the maker's name and serial number 'Jno Gerard, London, 1073' and having a silvered regulation dial, the outer case stamped with the casemaker's initials 'HPC' and hallmarked for London, 1746, the associated inner case hallmarked for London, 1766, diameter 46mm. * John Ger(r)ard is recorded as working in London from 1714 until at least 1735 with a repeating watch in the Guildhall Museum. ** Provenance: Puslinch.
R. Salsbury, Guildford. An 18 carat gold pocket watch, the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and signed 'R. Salsbury & Sons, Guildford', the movement having a lever escapement with a bimetallic balance, a fully engraved backcock and signed as the dial, the open faced case hallmarked for 18 carat gold, London 1886, diameter 48mm. * Robert Salsbury is recorded as working in Guildford from 1869 until 1878 becoming 'and Sons' after this date.

(8). Footnote: R W Satchwell, 18/19th Century, English School, exhibited 1793 -1818. William Derby (1786-1847), portrait painter, pupil of Joseph Barker. Lord Derby commissioned the artist to paint copies of his ancestors.

A late 19th Century Stevens & Williams "Transparent Cameo" decanter and stopper by Joshua Hodgetts c.1897, the compressed ovoid flask form body rising to a collar neck with applied white metal collar below a tear form stopper. The whole cased in deep green over clear crystal and cut back with a running vine with large passion flower between classical scroll work borders, height 28.5cm. ILLUSTRATED. A late 19th Century Thomas Webb & Sons clear crystal jug decorated by Jules Barbe circa 1888 of shouldered ovoid form with a tall tri form collar neck and applied grotesque lizard handle with enamelled decoration. The body further decorated by in the Aesthetic taste with Oriental inspired landscape scenic panels with bamboo and flowering blossom, height 31cm, foot replaced. ILLUSTRATED.
