A collection of medals, including RMS Lusitania "Ipse Belli Fvlmen", Horatio Viscount Nelson, medal to "David R. Courtney 1808" from The Historica Societas Collegii Dvbliniensis, Victoria Coronation medal, 1847 Shipwrecked Fisherman & Mariners Benevolent Society annual Subscription medal 1847 and Centenary of Wesleyan Methodism 1839 medal.
A large late 19th century Venetian goblet, marked to the base "R. Boucher Toblette di Venere". Height 36 cm, diameter 23 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This goblet appears to be in very good condition. There is no evidence of any damage, repairs or restoration. There are no chips or cracks. There is some minor rubbing to the gilding but no significant issues.

No. 65 where purchased by current owners.This portrait used to hang in Townley Hall Co. Louth . The sitters are Blayney R. Townley Balfour and his wife Madeline. Madeline was the daughter of John Kells Ingram LLD Vice-Provst of TCD. Sarah C. Harrison was one of the leading portrait painters of her day. She was also a great campaigner and created history as being the first woman to be elected a member of Dublin Corporation. She was an early fighter for women’s rights and campaigned for the cause of Dublin’s poor and had an office in 7 St. Stephens Green where she weekly listened to their grievances. She was a well known campaigner for the provision of a Modern gallery for The Lane pictures. Hugh Lane had presented her 1908 portrait of Thomas and Anna Haslam, pioneers of the Irish suffrage movement, to Dublin’s Municipal Gallery.

Entire letter to Palma de Mallorca (Spain), bearing 1857 ½r. greenish blue, tied by "parrilla" obliterator with blue dispatch c.d.s., paying the internal rate, entering the British P.O. with black "Paid/At/San Juan Porto Rico" crowned circle and rated "2/2" in red crayon, with corresponding double-arc datestamp on reverse, sent via London with "Paid" c.d.s. and "PP" within circle. Very rare in this very fine condition. Cert. Holcombe. Edifil Ant.7. Ex Glassco and Borromeo d'Adda.
CubaOutgoing Mail1843, Jan. 5. Entire letter from Havana to Santander (Spain), erroneously postmarked with red "Buenos/Ayres" in two lines denoting a mistaken origin, "5 R 1" rate markings including the single maritime rate and 1 cuarto war tax. Vertical fold and some slight soiling at right. An extraordinary application of a "Buenos Ayres" postmark on mail emanating from Cuba.

Folded cover from Trinidad of Cuba to Barcelona, displaying straight-line "Yndias" handstamp (P.E. 11), Corunna c.d.s., rated "5" for the single weight with accompanying "R" of Barcelona, this in order to avoid misunderstanding between reales and cuartos, "6.ms" maravedíes tax (exclusively paid in Catalonia for incoming mail in 1850's), and Barcelona c.d.s. on reverse. CubaOutgoing Mail1820 circa. Cover front to Madrid, carried by the "Palas" ship (vertical endorsement), bearing red "Cuba" straight-line of Santiago and two-line "Islas De/Barlovento" (P.E. 5) postmarks. The postage, to be paid by the recipient, is indicated by the "335.R" marking, equivalent to 19 ounces and 12 adarmes (1805 tariff), this being one of the highest known rates from Cuba in its extensive colonial period.
EcuadorOutgoing Mail1815 circa. Envelope with red wax seal on back, sent from Guayaquil to a Colonel of the Army in the Royal Court of Madrid, graced by magnificent clean strikes of "Guaiaquil/Deve" two-line & "Peru" straight-line handstamps in red, both struck on dispatch, taxed with "8.R" marking in Europe as required for an unpaid single weight letter up to 5 "adarmes". It was probably carried via Panama-Cartagena-Havana-Corunna. One of the finest of only five covers recorded exhibiting the "Peru" postmark of Guayaquil.
LouisianaIndependent Period1853, Feb. 1st. Entire letter from New Orleans to Madrid, displaying transit c.d.s. of Vigo and, in a distinctly red shade, "Yndias" straight-line and "5.R" handstamps of Madrid. This extremely rare "Yndias" postmark of Madrid has not been reported in any catalogue.
MexicoOutgoing Mail1820 circa. Cover front from Veracruz to Madrid, with involvement of the frigate "David", handstamped in Veracruz with straight-line "Yndias" and "Nueva/España" within dotted frame (P.E. 12) handstamps in red, charged on arrival with "25.R" due marking equivalent to an unpaid maritime letter weighing one ounce. The only example recorded showing the extensively used "Yndias" & "Nueva España" postmarks used in conjunction. Ex Camino.
A pair of Scottish Provincial silver sugar tongs by Robert Keay & Son, Perth, circa 1825 (working 1825/1839), (double-headed eagle, "R & R K", double-headed eagle) with shell grips, the top of bow crisply engraved with crest coronet of an upright arm clasping aloft a scimitar, issuing from a baron's coronet (in the Scottish peerage a baron is a Lord of Parliament), 14.7 cm. long, wt. 58 gm.In fine condition, virtually as new with crisp marks and engraving.
