Queens Westminster Rifle Volunteers Officers Uniform Major Walter Maxwell Henderson-Scott, Territorial Force, 16th Battalion, The London Regiment, Queens Westminster Rifles. Officers uniform including busby with red plume, waistcoat, dress tunic, patrol jacket, overcoat, trousers, belts and pouch, and pair of brown leather field boots with garter straps, three medals, British War Medal 1914-1918, Victory Medal with oak leaf and 1914 Star (named 2 Lieut, 16 Lond. R.), with 5th August - 22nd November 1914 bar, together with ribbons and miniature medals, the original commission to 2nd Lieutenant dated 25th August 1914, wristwatch, and all contained in a large stained wood box with metal straps.AMENDMENT - This lot also features a black tin trunk, previously listed in lot 224.

A Victorian John Sheldon Improved Patent Unique Pocket Companion, Birmingham 1852, cylindrical form, engraved decoration, the terminal with a agate seal matrix, with screws-off to reveal a lead reservoir, the body comprises: a pen, pencil, toothpick, and coin gauge, the body unscrews to reveal a letter scale calibrated for the East Indies market in T (Tole), and R (Rupees), length closed 10.4cm, plus a metal John Sheldon Paragon Letter and Coin balance and Pencil and Pen Case, Rd1184, reeded cylindrical form, the letter balance calibrated for the English market., length closed 10.2cm. (2) Provenance: The KB Collection of Pencils. Illustrated in Bull, K., The KB Collection of Pencils, private publication, 2012, page 38 and 39. The metal used in the Paragon pencil was also known at the time as 'German Silver'. This was in fact an alloy of Copper, zinc and nickel.

A WWII GROUP OF MEDALS, to a casualty of the Normandy Invasion 'Op Overlord' in June 1944, 1939-45, France and Germany Stars, Defence and War medal (un-named), together with a named 4/7th Dragoon Guards Inter Troop Sports medal (Hockey) 2nd Lt. R D Hancock, Lt Robert David Hancock, was killed in action two days after 'D-Day' on the 8th June 1944, whilst serving with 4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards (Royal Armoured Corps) in Normandy, he is buried in the Brouay War Cemetery, France, he was the son of Robert & Edith Hancock of Burnorton, Norfolk

Golay pocket watch made of 18K gold with enameled watch case studded with diamonds. White porcelain dial with Roman numerals and one subsidiary dial. Marked R Golay, Patent Lever, Geneva, No. 23480. Further marked 18K, 18 Jewel. Dimensions: Diameter: 1 3/4 in x depth: 1/4 in. Condition: Generally good; some losses to the enamel, two missing diamonds on the front of pocket watch case and two on the back.

The light falls on her auburn hair and white shoulders, and lights up the rich folds of the gray-green brocade of her robe. Behind her are the dark tapestries and furnishings of her prison apartment. One feels the depth of her plotting infamy in the cold impenetrability of her face. Laurens has painted larger pictures but none in which he more faithfully portrays the character, individuality, and mood of the person painted.""The Walker Art Galleries Alphabetical List of Artists With Biographical Sketches," curator R. H. Adams, 1927, p. 86.Dimensions: Sight; height: 23 1/2 in x width: 19 in. Framed; height: 36 in x width: 32 1/4 in.Condition: Good condition, small area of loss along the extreme lower right edge, small chip in paint along left edge, under UV there is a vertical band of inpainting that measures approximately 1/2 inches in width that extends thru the entire picture along the left side with some scattered touchup along the outer border of the figure.
