Halford & Sons London” with no “5180”, the name and number repeated inside on the movement with broad arrow and address “129 Fenchurch St EC & 41 Pall Mall, SW, London”, HM London 1904, diam 2¼”, fitted into brass mount with glazed screw on top, all inside mahogany case, 4½” x 3¾” x 2½”, the lid with brass spring catch and inlaid ivory disc with maker’s name, initials “CW” and broad arrow; used for extra navigational purposes in order to avoid disturbing the ship’s clock. A fine quality double barrelled 12 bore percussion sporting gun by R Ancell of Perth, 46” overall, well rebrowned twist barrels 29”, the top rib engraved in Gothic script “R. Ancell, George Street, Perth”; breech tang engraved with scrolls and vignette of a partridge in undergrowth; signed back action locks finely engraved with beaded borders and scenes of pheasants and lapwings in a heathland setting, unusual long nosed hammers of serpentine form; dark walnut halfstock having chequered wrist (worn) and steel mounts, trigger guard and finial engraved with capercaillie and other game birds, the butt plate tang with a heron in reeds; brass mounted ramrod having concealed worm. GWO&C (old repair to fractured fore end, light wear to stock and mounts)

A German silver plated cup, height 13½” including lid, the body of the cup having superimposed metal Luftwaffe eagle and swastika badge on one side, the other side with circular brass plaque engraved with initial “R” in shield and stamped in very small letters “Jagdgeschwader 2/ E. Mayer/ 4.3.1941”, the lid surmounted by a 1939 Iron Cross, the base rim stamped with small phoenix (?) maker’s mark. GC (the plating tarnished and slightly worn); also “Hitler’s Mein Kampf”, the profusely illus unexpurgated English language version pub by Hutchinson & Co, with impressed red linen covered binding. Pollard, Spitalfields, London, illustrating the process of producing linen from preparing the flax for milling, to the arrival of the finished cloth at the Brown Linen Market, Banbridge in C. Down; together with a second copy of Plate VI. Laid on card. 13.25 by 16in. (33.7 by 40.6cm) Born in Waterford, Hincks was self taught as an artist, and exhibited at the Society of Artists, Dublin, in the 1780s, as well as at the RA, London.

Canada General Service Medal with Fenian Raid 1866 clasp To 'Pte. C. Goudreau, 2nd. 1 Co. Three R.' Between 1866 and 1871, the Fenian Brotherhood, based in the USA, launched raids on British army forts, customs posts and other targets in Canada, to bring pressure on Britain to withdraw from Ireland. There were five Fenian raids of note and all of them ended in failure. The clasp on this medal was awarded to Canadian troops involved in the defence and defeat of the Fenians. The medal is to Private Goudreau, 2nd Infantry Company, Third Regiment.
