A Martin Brothers stoneware vase by Robert Wallace Martin, dated 1879, of slender high shouldered form with cylindrical neck, incised and painted with birds perched on branches and in flight, glazed in shades of blue, manganese and green, incised '9.5.79, R W Martin, London & Southall', 38.5cm high CONDITION REPORT:The piece shows minor surface wear and the odd small firing pit and frit, but no obvious chips, cracks, crazing or restoration.  Areas of decoration show some variation in colour and texture, most noticeably on the neck.
