AN INDIAN SILVER THREE PIECE TEASET chased with ceremonial scenes, to include Kali and other Goddesses, sedan chairs with attendant figures, the teapot lid and each of the handles mounted by figure finial, and with a pair of matching tongs, also with Goddess handles, approximately 49 ozs, in original lined case marked `Presented by the Staff of Messrs Oakes & Co Ltd to R Harper Esq, 5th June 1904, Madras`
A Chinese painted lacquer dish, Qianlong 1736-95, decorated with peaches encircled by a band of lotus, the reverse with gilt flower sprays and four low feet, 15cm. Provenance: by repute, the K R Malcolm collection. For related decoration but on an Yixing teapot in the Palace Museum cf. Wang Jianhua, Yixing Zisha Wares In The Palace Museum, no.17.
A pair of Chinese Dowager Empress bowls, 19th century, painted in overglaze grisaille with blossoming branches, bulbous plants, hops and ruyi fungus on a bright yellow ground, three character mark for Daya Zhai (Studio of great Elegance) next to a cartouche containing two dragons pursuing a flaming pearl with the words tiandi yijia chun (Heaven and Earth harmonious as one family), a four character mark to the base for yongquin changchun (Enduring Spring eternally celebrated). 14cm. A rare and massive Chinese famille rose Baxian or Immortals vase, Jiaqing 1796-1820, painted with a continuous scene of the Eight Daoist Immortals, scholars and meiren in a landscape of rocky outcrops, pine trees and a river with a bridge, across which Li Tieguai walks with his crutch, carrying his double gourd vase on his back, in the distance mountain peaks are visible among the clouds, the neck finely painted with the eight Buddhist emblems on a lime green ground amongst continuous floral scrolls and between ruyi bands, a pair of moulded kui dragon handles beneath the slightly everted rim, the interior and base glazed in turquoise, unmarked, a rim section broken out and repaired, 69.5cm. Provenance: English private collection, purchased by the present owner in the 1970s. Cf. Sotheby`s, London, 9th June 2004, lot 225 for a similar example from Invercauld Castle, Aberdeenshire. Two Chinese folding porcelain panels, 19th century, decorated with bamboo, lotus, crab and calligraphy, and contained in hardwood and bamboo-veneered frames, one panel broken into four, the frames damaged and with losses, 26cm. A mid-19th Century Scottish Mahogany Cased 8 Day Long Case Clock, R Hendrie Forres, the arched hood with swan-neck pediment and central globe and spike finial, over freestanding turned columns to a moulded throat and plain frieze over half-columns flanking an arched door with panelled section to the base, and raised on a plinth base with bun feet, to a 13” and arched third period painted dial decorated with a highlander with rifle and hounds to the arch, over floral spandrels enclosing a Roman chapter ring with outside minute track and enclosing subsidiaries for second and date, with pierced and stamped brass hands, to a movement with plates united by four knopped pillars and with anchor escapement, and later added strike on a coiled gong, height 88”
