A 16th century Spanish bronze mortar, with four lugs, one perforated with a rope-twist handle, with eight panels of letters 'P O V O N R S O', c.1530-40, 8cm high, 12cm wide. A very similar mortar was discovered on the Punta Cana, Hispaniola shipwreck in 2011, sold at Wilkinson's. Provenance: A private collection.
Three leather travelling apothecary cases, each fitted with glass bottles and stoppers, one stamped 'Kum stock im Eisen, WIEN I. KARNTHNERSTRASSE 1.', one stamped with a 'double R' monogram in a cross, together with a Burroughs Wellcome & Co. 'Tabloid' hypodermic case, 17cm wide (max). A Charles II dated bronze mortar, the body cast with the owner's triad 'E R A', with a heart stop and dated '1684', possibly by the Francis Sturton / 'Cut-Card' Foundry of South Petherton, 14cm high, 17.2cm diameter. A mid 20th century mahogany dentist's cabinet, the hinged lid with a swing handle and with a metal plaque inscribed 'R. PARK', revealing a fitted interior with glass bottles and stoppers and various dental instruments, above six graduated drawers fitted with assorted stainless steel instruments, 38.9cm high, 33.1cm wide, 23cm deep. Provenance: From the collection of the late Ian Jenkins.
A Regency gilt and patinated bronze inkstand retailed by the Thomas Weeks Museum, modelled with a seated greyhound, its collar inscribed 'FIDELE', chained to a tree stump supporting an urn, with an engraved shield inscribed 'WEEKS'S R. MUSEUM TICHBORNE ST.T', the inkwell decorated with a guilloche band and a rosette hinged lid, on a white marble base with a beaded moulding, 14.6cm high, 14.7cm wide. Thomas Weeks (1743-1834), established his celebrated Museum of Mechanical Curiosities at nos. 3 & 4 Tichborne Street, London, in 1797. The Museum became a place of amusement for sophisticated Londoners, not only was it a private house but also a shop where Weeks displayed a variety of mechanical toys, elaborate temples and contrivances ranging from self playing organs to mechanical spiders.

An 18 carat gold and three stone diamond ring, the three illusion set brilliants totalling approx. 0.31 carat, platinum set, the shank fully hallmarked, finger size R, 3.9gms CONDITION: Diamonds lively and bright and of good, uniform colour. Clarity VS2/SI1, dark mineral inclusion beneath table on one side stone. Chip to kite facet on central stone.
George Border, Sleaford, a mahogany bracket clock: the eight-day duration single-fusee movement having an anchor escapement and shaped plates, the six-inch round painted dial having black Roman numerals and signed with the name Geor. Border, Sleaford, with blued steel moon hands, the mahogany case having a pagoda top applied with carved decoration and roundels to the sides above flat pillars to the trunk inlaid with brass stringing over a scroll mouldings and standing on round bun feet, height 37cm.* Biography George Border is recorded as working in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, being late of Mr. Shaw, from at least August 1810 when he advertised for an apprentice, doing so again in June 1811, the year he married Mary Ann, who took over the business sometime between 1863 and 1872, presumably on his death. Border is recorded at Northgate from 1810 until circa 1856 and 20 North Street from 1863. (Lincolnshire Clock, Watch & Barometer makers; A.S. Wilbourn & R. Ellis; Pub.
