A 14th or 15th century Cypriot silver acorn knop spoon A 14th or 15th century Cypriot silver acorn knop spoon, mark of a lion rampant and an assay zigzag only, the fig shape bowl with the mark, the stem of lozenge section with the assay zigzag and a gilt acorn knop, 17.8cm (7in) long, 28g (0.9 oz), in a wooden shipping box addressed to J. R. Stewart with an address in England Provenance: James Rivers Barrington Stewart (1913-1962). He was a noted Australian numismatist, gentleman farmer and archaeologist of Cyprus and the Ancient Near East at the University of Sydney. He was born in Sydney and died at Bathurst, New South Wales.
