WW1 8th Bn Suffolk Regiment Group of Three Medals.Awarded to “14638 PTE T.C. TURNER SUFF R”. Comprising: 1914/15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal. Mounted for display. ... Accompanied by a quantity of research. Private Thomas Charles Turner a native of Woolpit Suffolk enlisted into the 8th Bn Suffolk Regiment on the 1st September 1914. He landed in France on the 25th July 1915. During the action at Delville Wood 19th July 1916, he was wounded in the left foot and leg. He returned to the Regiment in October 1916. He later served with the Highland Light Infantry and was discharged in February 1919. He died in 1968.

Engraved portrait of the author in the second state signed "W. Sherwin sculpsit", initials, headpieces, engraved illustrations of the "The Arms of the Society of the Mines Royal" and "The Arms of the Society for the Mineral and Battery Works", the first with an explanatory note pasted beneath [as usual], 2 engraved plates titled "Comsumlock Hill" and "The Roman Works", each with letterpress "key" on versos, "Corrigenda" leaf at end (a few very short marginal tears without loss, some light mainly marginal staining and spotting, [?]printer's ink stain at upper margin of M1, not affecting letters). Contemporary calf (quite heavily rubbed, joints splitting). Provenance: old monogram [?]"J.R." on front blanks; J. C. Owen, Wrexham (modern incription in blue pencil at upper margin of title, with a note in the same hand beneath the author's name and some faint underlining to passages of the text). FIRST EDITION of a work that was undertaken at the request of Prince Rupert of the Rhine, Duke of Cumberland. A DIAMOND CLUSTER RING, the circular target cluster of graduated old and single-cut diamonds in claw settings, between similarly cut diamond set shoulders, two colour precious metal mounted, total diamond weight approximately 1.80ct, ring size R½ Condition report: Diamonds have variable colour and clarity, some stones with surface-reaching fractures and chips, estimated VS2 to P2 clarity and H to L colour, assessed mounted. The setting requires a comprehensive clean. The mount has surface wear throughout and patchy wear to the tips of the claws. The shank has been re-sized. Gross weight approx. 6.4gm.
