Leur etat present, leurs interets, la forme du gouvernement, l'étendue de leur commerce, &c.- A Amsterdam: Chez François l'Honoré & Fils, 1741.- 4 vols.: il.; 27 cm.- E., One of the most appreciated foreign books on Portugal and Spain, from the 18th century, whose author, unidentified, but probably French, may have used a Spanish pseudonym. Larger format edition, based on the work “Les delices de l'Espagne & du Portugal”, previously published in Leiden (Netherlands), by Pieter van der Aa, in 1707 (6 vols., in 12º), illustrated with three folding maps and 166 copperplate prints (in fact 165, due to a numbering error from 45 to 47 ), most of which are double (two per page). The collation of each of the volumes is as follows: I - [4], XII, 424, [2] p.: 3 unfolded maps; II - [4], 288 p.: 93 (in fact 92) engrav.; III - [4], 331 p.: engrav. 128 to 157; IV - [4], 340, [44] p.: engrav. 158 to 166. Copy a little cropped, with the loss of some subtitles of the engravings, with the lack of engraving 161 (vol. IV, p. 88); slight browning and restored stain on the lower margin of vol. IV. Bindings of the period, full sheepskin, slightly worn, with double miter on the covers, gold closed panels on the spines, conserving the original endpapers in marbled paper. Carmine and waxed edges. Provenance: Library Gustavo R. A. Cudell (ex-libris in the four volumes). Duarte de Sousa only refers to the smaller format edition (261). B. Xavier Coutinho, 413. Palau, 9589. Auvermann, 1146.

Luís de Granada (1504-1588) lived in Portugal for the last 47 years of his life, he was confessor to King D. João III, Queen D. Catarina and King Cardinal D. Henrique. Bibliographer António Palau dedicates more than a thousand entries to it in about 40 pages of his “Manual del librero hispano-americano”. The text is almost entirely printed in Gothic rotunda characters. The thirteen sermons have their own title page and pagination. On the back of the last pages of each of the parts, the mark of the printer João Blávio de Colónia. 1955 Bentley R-Type by H.J. MullinerMileage:9,442 The R-Type is the second series of post-war Bentley motorcars and replaced the Mk. VI. Essentially a larger boot version of the Mk. VI. The R-type was a development of the Mk. VI Bentley with several mechanical improvements such as higher rear axle ratios. As with its predecessor, a standard body was available as well as coachbuilt versions by firms including H.J. Mulliner, Park Ward, Harold Radford, Freestone and Webb and others. Even by this date, there was little difference (other than the radiator grilles and the carburation) between the standard Bentley R-Type and the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, though Bentley was still the more popular sporting marque. Indeed, the vast majority of cars produced were Bentleys with some 2,500 units manufactured during the R-Type's run. During development, it was referred to as the Bentley Mk. VII; even the chassis cards for these cars describe them as Bentley VII's. The R-Type name, which is now usually applied, stems from chassis series RT.This delightful Bentley has been owned within the same family since 1985. The penultimate owner having passed away a couple of years ago, the family transferred ownership into their name. Always having been a much enjoyed and cared example, it was decided during lockdown to try and bring the car back up to a good standard in memory of their late father. Specialist mechanical repairs were carried out which included replacing the head gasket and ensuring the ‘one shot’ lubrication system works correctly. The interior was thoroughly cleaned, with the leather being treated and the wood refurbished. During our inspection, the car started immediately when requested and ran extremely well, the 4566cc engine sounded excellent. We are advised she drives well with no known faults. This stylish, aluminium bodied R-Type, with coachwork by H.J. Mulliner is competitively estimated given the condition of the car and is well worth further inspection.
