Victor Anton "BL Y R WH 1": ABSTRACT COMPOSITION signed inscribed with title and dated 1966 on the reverse collage on white acrylic sheet 61 x 75.5cms; 24 x 29 3/4in., unframed. NB: Victor Anton (1909-1980) was born in Worthing, Sussex. He took up sculpting in 1949 and working in a Constructivist style he was a member of Groupe Espace in the 1950`s.

A VICTORIAN EBONISED WOODEN TRUNCHEON with turned handle and gilded decoration, engraved "C R. Grubb Riots 1867" in gold lettering, 16" long. This truncheon would have been used by a police constable during the series of bread riots, known as the "Grubb Riots" in Oxford in 1867. These were named after Mr Grubb, a baker, who was a catalyst in the riots when he started selling his bread to the University colleges at lower prices than to the struggling townsfolk.
A boxed set of table mats presented to `Mr Charles` by Queen Elizabeth II with personal hand written card from Buckingham Palace inscribed Mr Charles with all good wishes for Christmas and the New Year from Elizabeth R". The lot also includes a Christmas gift tag personally signed "Elizabeth R". The lot also includes a photograph of the Mr Charles who was the personal hairdresser to the Queen at that time. "

A SCARCE 4-BORE SINGLE BARREL HAMMER GUN, NO. 38653. 41-inch damascus barrel with 4-inch chamber about full choke boring, the massive frame, rebounding back lock, hammer, rotary underlever and top lever with fine border engraving and retaining virtually all of its original hardening colour, 14 1/4-inch well figured stock with pistol grip and recoil pad, fore-end with horn tip, chipped, 15lb. 12oz., black powder proof, in its maker`s brassbound oak and leather case, with tools and accessories. The gun is thought to have been built for the Nizan of Hydrabad, and was removed from his armoury.

An Indian Army rifle officer`s sword, straight fullererd blade 32½", by Wilkinson, no 58303 on backstrap (1920), etched with crowned R Arms, GRI cypher, wreath and owner`s initials "E.A.N. Aug 8th 1920" within scrolled panels, regulation plated hilt incorporating crowned strung bugle, plain pommel, diced backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its plated scabbard, with black leather knot, black leather FS scabbard, chamois cover, oilskin cover, and leather case. An officer`s 1834 pattern gilt helmet of the 7th or Princess Royal`s Dragoon Guards, plain front peak, ornamental back peak, headband bearing regimental title at the front and oak wreath at the back, applied acanthus foliage to skull, tall oak wreath embossed crest with detachable lion finial, rayed helmet plate bearing crowned R Arms with supporters and motto, velvet backed chinscales and large ear rosettes, leather and silk lining. An ERII trooper`s full dress uniform of The Life Guards, comprising: plated helmet with brass peak binding, ear to ear wreath, leather backed chinchain and ear rosettes, brass and WM Garter Star HP, plated top mount with brass base, white hair plume with plain rosette; plated cuirass, brass studs and edge binding, leather backed shoulder scales with brass ornamental ends; scarlet tunic with blue facings, shoulder straps and piping, gilt lace to collar, cuffs and shoulder straps; buff leather waistbelt with brass WBP bearing R Arms; mounted on a dummy. Pair: BWM, Victory (58888 Pte A Humphrey Welsh R) GVF; an empty Princess Mary Christmas gift tin, GC; and an RAF Service of thanksgiving for cessation of hostilities in Europe programme.
Four: 1914 star with clasp (partly unstitched), BWM, Victory (2805 Pte J Duggan, 12-Lrs), Army LS & GC Geo V military bust (as 2307983 Cpl J Duggan R Signals), GVF, with recipient`s Service and Pay Book and a diary for 1918 (AF, some waterstains, covers detached) including entry Friday 14th June "came insight of Egypt at 9.40am, before sighting land, one of the Jap destroyers suddenly wheeled & going at top speed dropped depth charges....instantly there was a rush of destroyers, sea planes & an airship, which had come out from Alexandria to meet us and one after another depth charges were dropped...on account of a W/T message which was received in Alex. saying that a German sub flotilla was waiting for our convoy...", the back of the diary with diagrams etc of radio transmitting sets, message codes etc. Recipient served RAMC from 26.11.07, 5th Lancers 13.6.10, 12th Lancers 31.1.1912, RE Signals 4.8.16, R Corps Signals 24.11.20.
Three: 1914 star, BWM, Victory (L15605 L Cpl P Edwards 4 R Fus) GVF with memorial plaque to Percy Edwards- Pte Edwards was with the 2nd Bn Royal Fusiliers when he was killed in action at Gallipoli 7.11.1915, and commemorated at Azmak Cemetery, Suvla.
