Fayence ziegelroter Scherben mit seltener, türkisfarbener Glasur, flächendeckend bemalt mit stilisierten osmanischen Segelschiffen in Kobaltblau und Mangan, dazwischen leicht ockerfarbene Motive von Korallenriffen. Deckelknauf rest, Stand bestoßen, kleinere Haarrisse und Chips.Süddeutsche Privatsammlung.Der Fayence-Macher Cornelius Funcke gründete 1699 in Berlin seine eigene Fayence-Manufaktur. Er entwickelte neue Formen und Dekore, mit zum Teil noch nie dagewesenen Farbgebungen. Die Vase in ihrer Achtkantform ist exemplarisch für die frühe Fayenceproduktion der Berliner Manufaktur von Funcke, er verbindet europäische Stilmerkmale des Barock in der Form mit technisch-künstlerischen Einflüssen aus dem Orient - türkisfarbene Glasur und Dekor aus osmanischen Schiffen. Der Dekor wurde durch Iznik-Keramiken des 17. Jahrhunderts beeinflusst. 1712 rühmte sich Funcke gegenüber König Friedrich I, daß er befähigt sei, Vasensätze mit rotem Scherben wie die Dresdener Porzellanmanufaktur herstellen zu können. Der Schiffsdekor stand an erster Stelle der seltenen Dekore. Der Vorläufer des türkisblauen Fonds war eine Art Moosgrün, eines der ersten Gefäße in Türkisblau weist ein Entstehungsdatum von 1701 auf. Vergleichsstücke zur vorliegenden Vase in Form und Dekor befinden sich u. a. im Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin (Paar Deckelvasen, um 1701; Inv.-Nr. 1937,44 a,b), Hetjens-Museum in Düsseldorf (Deckelvase, um 1700, ehemals Sammlung Otto Riesebieter, Inv.-Nr.
