* HESTER FROOD (BRITISH 1882 - 1971), MANOBIER CASTLE charcoal and watercolour on paper, signed 16.5cm x 21cm Mounted, framed and under glass Label verso: T. & R. Annan & Sons Ltd., Edinburgh Note: Born in New Zealand, Hester Frood came to England at the age of seven and spent her youth near Exeter in Devon. She met the famous printmaker D.Y. Cameron on a visit to Scotland in 1906. He was so impressed with her work that he told her to "draw and draw" and offered to teach her the technique of etching. During the following years her work was exhibited widely at the Royal Scottish Academy and at the Royal Academy in London.

One having a zinc liner and round ivorine maker's label; R A LISTER & Co Ltd, DURSLEY ENGLAND, 6½ ins (16 cms) deep, 18 ins x 13¾ ins (46 cms x 35 cms) on tall outswept legs united by an X-stretcher, 34½ ins (88 cms) overall height. The other 9 ins (23 cms) deep, 23½ ins x 19 ins (60 cms x 48 cms), on square legs with X-stretcher, 27 ins (69 cms) high.
A Collection of Majolica: A Pair of J.R.L begonia leaf comports 9 ins (23 cms) in diameter. A brown & green mottled glaze leaf dish, 7½ ins x 5¼ ins (19 cms x 13 cms). A round plate with ears of wheat moulded around the border 8 ins (20 cms) in diameter. A moulded yellow flower head wall pocket marked W&R (A/F). Three Brameld green glazed dishes intricately moulded with scrolling panels of basket weave and trelliswork, one oval 10 ins x 7½ ins (26 cms x 19 cms), the other two 8¾ ins in diameter.

EWAN GEDDES R.S.W (1866 - 1936) Framed, signed, Scottish School, watercolour on paper, figure in rural landscape, titled on R.S.W. label verso, 'A corner of the clachan', 26.5cm x 36.5cm. Provenance: See Royal Scottish Society for Painters in Watercolours label verso, inscribed with artist's name and address, and 'Charles R. Menzies Gilder and Picture Frame Maker' label verso. Charles took over the family business with his name in 1909, so it is likely the painting dates to after 1909.
