BACKES 7. R. ELZEVIR PARIS, regulation three-bar steel hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard.
OF NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS INTEREST A LARGE MULTI TOOL POCKET KNIFE, 12.25cm principal blade stamped with a maker's mark for R. Mc Queen & Son of Newcastle, four further fold out implements and three further tools, scissors, tweezers and pricker stored in the chequered wooden grips, applied with a white metal plaque engraved Lt P. C. SWAN 7th Nortd. Fusiliers.

A label attached reads Heirloom No. 8 GERMAN SWORD D R A HOTCHKIS Captured at BLECHEDE on the River Elbe April 1945. Blechede is probably Bleckede.
A CLEAN .450 CALIBRE HUGHES PATENT PERCUSSION WHITWORTH RIFLED CARBINE, 26.5inch sighted blued barrel fitted with ramp and ladder rear sights and stamped WHITWORTH 450 BORE, border and scroll engraved lock signed R. HUGHES PATENT, full stocked with border and scroll engraved brass mounts, chequered fore-end and wrist, steel ramrod, fitted with one barrel band and sling mounts. Robert Hughes gun maker in Birmingham in the second half of the 19th Century refurbished military rifles and carbines for civilian use. This appears to be a sporterised military carbine probably a Westley Richards monkey tail carbine.
