A Cased Five-shot 54-bore Adams Self-cocking Percussion Revolver. Number 8608R. Circa 1855. 3N" octagonal barrel (shortened) with top strap engraved ‘DEANE ADAMS & DEANE (MAKERS TO HRH PRICE ALBERT) 30. KING WILLIAM ST’. London proved. Five-shot cylinder Adams patent rammer spring safety catch chequered butt with engraved trap in green baize lined fitted oak case with trade label and patent topped adjustable copper powder flask by James Dixon 54-bore double cavity bronze bullet mould marked ‘R. ADAMS REGISTERED 28TH NOV. 1851’ pewter oil bottle ebony and rosewood cleaning rod with jag and integral worm wood handled nipple key with integral pricker wad punch and leather pouch with bullets and wads. Retains virtually all its original bright blue finish cylinder with traces of its original colour case-hardening. During its working life the barrel has been professionally shortened and the front sight reset.

A Cased 54-bore Very Early Beaumont Adams Revolver with no ‘B’ Number. 6" octagonal sighted barrel. London proved. Top flat engraved ‘DEANE ADAMS & DEANE 30. KING WILLIAM ST. LONDON’ frame engraved ‘ADAMS PATENT No. 14219.R.’ sliding cylinder lock safety catch fitted with Rigby s patent rammer numbered ‘2239’. In its original oak case lined with green baize most un-usually containing two bullet moulds (one a rare transitional mould) graduated adjustable copper bodied powder flask by James Dixon pewter oil bottle combined loading/cleaning rod and worm and a suede percussion cap bag with label marked ‘Made exclusively for Adams patent revolver’. Retains 90% of its original blue finish. Note: Ex J.B. Bell collection with copy of handwritten note from J.B. Bell concerning the transitional bullet mould stating that this is the only example he had ever seen cased for two bullet moulds.
