Nr. 21ZustandVollkommen frisch in der Erhaltung, rückseitig mit durchgewachsenem BisterErläuterungenOtto Benesch hebt die Qualität der Zeichnung hervor: "[…] not only in the brittle structure of the figures, but also in the application of rich washes which lends the chiaroscuro a dramatic effect". The Complete Drawings and Etchings, Köln 2019). A characteristic example of a drawing belonging to the "Carel Fabritius" group. […] Benesch (1955/73) described the similarities to other drawings in the group as "not only in the brittle structure of the figures but also in the application of rich washes", although he retained the attribution to Rembrandt. For the figures, compare Benesch 514–15, and for the wash Benesch 500 and Benesch 512. The trees on the right resemble Benesch 498, while those on the left are close to one on the right of Benesch 523. The nearest figure, the awakening St Peter, seems to depend on his appearance in Benesch 1039, a drawing often dated after Fabritius’s death in 1654 but more recently placed c. 1645–47."MWST / VATMehrwertsteuer auf dem Zuschalgspreis plus AufgeldErwartete Ausrufzeit (+/- 15min)12.09.2024; 20:20 h (MEST)VersandkostenSchweiz: CHF 165.-Europa: CHF 280.-Übrige Länder: CHF 335.-

In this movie, Sanjuro comes to the aid of a group of young samurai who are fighting against a corrupt superintendent. The movie proved to be a huge hit and was more financially successful in Japan during its release than even King Kong vs. Godzilla. This lot will be auctioned on Friday, September 13th. JAMES BOND: ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICEGerman A1 (23" x 33")Very Fine Rolled; Artwork by Frank McCarthy United Artists, 1969This example is rolled and features terrific artwork of the "new" Bond, George Lazenby, along with exciting action scenes. This example is in outstanding unrestored condition with only light edge wear. When Sean Connery announced that he was leaving the James Bond franchise, the hunt was on for a replacement. Although the names of many well-known actors were floated - including future Bonds Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton - the role eventually went to Australian fashion model George Lazenby. This actor had only appeared in commercials previously (Lazenby initially met producer Albert R. Broccoli when they were both getting their haircut at the same barbershop). The film is one of the most faithful adaptations of any source novel and is widely considered one of the franchise's finest films. Opposite Diana Rigg as Tracy DiVincenzo and opposing the formidable Telly Savalas as Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is threatening to devastate the world with a deadly virus, Lazenby made a fascinating Bond, stripped of most of the gadgets that had come to characterize Connery's portrayal. This lot will be auctioned on Friday, September 13th. THE INVISIBLE RAYHalf Sheet (22" x 28")Fine+ Folded Realart, R-1948This Universal horror poster featuring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi was issued for the film's 1949 US theatrical reissue and features Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. Folded as issued, it displays fold and crossfold wear with border creases, pinholes, small tears and nicks and light smudging. The rich color tints are fresh and vibrant and this poster boasts great images of the two leading stars. In 1936, there were two undisputed Kings of Horror in Hollywood: Bela Lugosi, who had starred in Dracula (1931), and Boris Karloff, who played the Monster in Frankenstein (1931). It's not surprising, then, that Universal Pictures would eventually team these two cinematic titans. The Invisible Ray (1936), is about a scientist (Karloff) who finds a strange meteor made of an unknown element dubbed "Radium X," whose emanations cause him first to glow in the dark and then proceed to drive him slowly mad. The film is particularly notable for being the last of the Universal Monster films to be released under the studio's original regime, marking the end of an important era. This lot will be auctioned on Thursday, September 12th. FRANKENSTEINTitle Lobby Card (11" x 14" )Fine+ Realart, R-1951Director James Whale's iconic Universal horror film garnered such popularity that it was reissued multiple times in US theaters, with this particular card hailing from the 1951 Realart reissue. Every cliche of cinema horror was created with this film: the mad scientist, the misunderstood monster, the angry villagers carrying torches, the dark laboratory filled with science fictional devices, and the creepy assistant. JAMES BOND: ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICEOne Sheet (27" x 41"); Style AVery Fine+ Folded United Artists, 1969This beautiful "Style A" one sheet marked the first and only appearance of model-turned-actor George Lazenby as 007 and the studio kept his face partially hidden to maintain the mystique of who would carry on the role. This example is folded as issued with only a pinhole in the corners and light signs of wear along the upper border. This unrestored example is in outstanding condition and will make a nice addition to any Bond collection. When Sean Connery announced that he was leaving the James Bond franchise, the hunt was on for a replacement.
