For a similar mark, see The Ellis Collection, Sotheby's, London 1935, lot 112, which at the time was described as the 'R' Mark Group, possibly Rochester.

The case was given to Stephen Demetradi by his Mother in 1943, when he was serving in Palestine with the Cheshire Yeomanry.
