Spencer, Masonic Booksellers, London, approx. 48cms x 38cms (19" x 15") in hogarth type frame. With a printed "Biographical Memoir of the Hon. Mrs. Aldworth, of Newmarket, Co. Russell & Sons pair of Arts & Crafts "Lygon" brass candlesticks, possibly manufactured in the Lygon Arms workshops, with faceted stem mounted on a stepped base with nozzle drip pan, base with hand stamped details impressed "Lygon" and R&S mark. 17th Century Roman School/Young Man Playing a Lute by Candlelight/oil on canvas, 71cm x 62cm/Provenance: The Arcade Gallery, London 1965; K R Bernard-Smith Collection, New South Wales, Australia/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: Relined. There are no obvious signs of restoration under UV light, but with naked eye would appear to be some restoration to the background on the left and the left side of the face. Otherwise it is in good condition. The stretcher appears to be 18th/19th century, ebonised and gilt frame 16th/17th century with restoration.
