A Coalport Porcelain Exhibition Quality Large Two-Handled Pedestal Vase and Cover, made for the 1862 Exhibition, of Persian influence, the domed fluted cover on a cupped neck, semi-gadrooned, the neck and shoulders with bands of Islamic style mihrabs, flowers and tendrils, with reeded downswept handles, the main body with a band of florets and cabochons moulded in high relief over a front and reverse shaped oval panel, painted by R F Abraham, one painted in puce en camaieu with a winged maiden holding cherubs flanked by an owl after Thorwaldsen, the opposite panel with a detailed spray of diverse flowers amongst silk ribbons, within gilt frames against a sky blue ground with floral repeat Persian influenced foliage, on a short fluted stem and square conforming foot, the inside of the cover with gilded "ampersand" mark, the main vase unmarked (vestiges of green paper label inscribed LONDON), 78cm high
