The Bentley Azure was launched in 1995 and was based on the platform of the Continental R which had been launched in 1991. The Azure intended to both convey a sense of presence and allow for comfortable seating for four adult passengers. Power came from the company's stalwart 6.75 litre, V8 featuring a single intercooled turbocharger. The gearbox was a General Motors sourced four-speed automatic unit with the Azure capable of 0-60mph in an impressive 6.1 seconds. Owing to the limited space at Bentley's Crewe factory, the Azure was designed and manufactured by Pininfarina, significantly adding to the vehicle's production cost. This lovely example of this sublime model is presented in what is arguably the best colour combination of Black coachwork over a matching black leather interior and black electric hood. The interior is in very presentable condition which belies its age! The odometer reads a modest 63,100 miles and the car comes with an Mot test certificate with no advisories, valid until November 2024, along with a good history file, with many bills and invoices, including the original Bentley booklet with a stamped service book and various maintenance books. Also included with the car are the all-important Bentley umbrellas, tools, wool over mats, and two keys. Recently the Bentley has been treated to much cosmetic restoration and detailing prior to sale and as such it looks superb! These Bentleys are so elegant and particularly when the hood is down, its lines still take your breath away and this rare Mulliner wide body example is no exception. Interested parties should note that the registration number is not included with the vehicle and an age related number will be assigned to the vehicle following a successful sale. Bruce Meyers is quoted as saying, “I'm an artist and I wanted to bring a sense of movement and gesture to the Manx. Dune buggies have a message: fun. They’re playful to drive and should look like it. Nothing did at the time.” Sure enough, using a basic VW chassis and engine, this radical design concept proved an instant hit both in the US and then, later, in Europe.Whilst this example is certainly not an original Bruce Myers example, the is still plenty of the fun-factor to go around! This striking example, in fluorescent orange with Oakley-accents and contrasting black vinyl seating, benefits from good quality tyres all round with particularly high-grip Kelly Safari R-T rear items. There is a full roll cage to protect both front and rear occupants to include belted & padded rear seats and racing-style front bucket seats. In has an 8-ball as a gearstick handle, a leather-bound Mountney GT steering wheel and the speedo itself is centrally mounted. In the interests of weather protection, there is a vinyl roof which can be pulled over to get you home. Bought on a whim by the vendor, it has been used sparingly but will benefit from a new MoT test certificate and a light fluid service prior to the auction. The 1.5 litre engine is reported to start and drive well and should provide many grins-per-mile for the new owner! Consigned by Dominic Lake. FOUR SEAT EXAMPLEREPORTED TO RUN WELL
Launched in 1998, the Arnage was manufactured in Crewe from 1998 to 2009 with its Rolls-Royce sibling, the Silver Seraph, introduced in the Spring of 1998. They were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980 when the Silver Spirit and Mulsanne models were introduced. The new Arnage (Green Label) was to be powered by a BMW V8 engine with Cosworth-engineered, twin-turbo chargers and the Seraph was to employ a BMW V12 engine. The Arnage Red Label was launched in October 1999 with the engine reverting back to Bentley power using the traditional V8 engine and a displacement of 6750cc. As part of the modification process, both Red and Green Label cars benefitted from expanded leg room in the cabin, stiffer bodyshells and larger wheels and brakes. The Red Label models were replaced in 2002 by the Arnage R.Originally registered on 26th October 2010, this Bentley Arnage Red Label is finished in the delightful colour combination of Royal blue with cream leather interior with navy blue piping, the ultimate colour combination. To be expected of such a prestige marque, the level of equipment in this Arnage R includes electric memory seats, air conditioning, satellite navigation and cruise control. The service booklet shows 10 entries, the most recent in August of this year. The Arnage R with the Rolls-Royce 6750cc V8 engine is a superb vehicle to drive with seemingly endless power, with ample leather and walnut wood which contribute to making the passenger area a great place to be. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate and full book pack. A great luxury tourer which oozes opulence but has terrific performance to match. Presented in stunning condition and we are informed drives fantastically. King Charles would be very comfortable in the rear of this vehicle as it still looks as elegant today as it did when first launched. Since 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The 'R' resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950s as well as the Turbo R of the 1980s. Bentley's 1980s resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce models, however, the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque. Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one restated for the 1990s. Needless to say, the performance was outstanding, the combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting a top speed in excess of 150mph. Originally registered on 4th February 1994 this Bentley Continental R has been lovingly cared for by the vendor. Presenting exceptionally well in Red Pearl which is complemented by Sandstone interior, the cockpit of a Continental R is an area of beauty with walnut wood and gauges featuring highly. The paintwork was refreshed in 2011 and appears to have been done to a very high standard as the car remains virtually unblemished. In recent times the fastidious vendor has had the car looked after by marque specialist Frank Dale & Stepsons. Sitting proudly on the correct Avon Turbospeed tyres this regal Bentley will have the cherished registration plate removed at the point of sale and a new age related plate issued. Supplied with an MoT test certificate valid until 21st August 2025 (with no advisories) and a good history file. The Continental R is a superb design from the 90’s with prices likely to remain firm as the classic shape continues to attract admirers. Consigned by Stewart Banks. The Bentley Azure was launched in 1995 and based on the platform of the Continental R Coupé which had been launched in 1991. The Azure often surprised with its size and bulk, intended to both convey a sense of presence and allow for comfortable seating of four adult passengers. Power came from the company's stalwart 6.75 litre V8, featuring a single intercooled turbocharger producing in the region of 380bhp. The gearbox was a General Motors sourced four-speed automatic unit with the Azure capable of 0 to 60mph in an impressive 6.1 seconds. Owing to the limited space at Bentley's Crewe factory, the Azure was designed and manufactured by Pininfarina, significantly adding to the vehicle's production cost.Registered in October 1996 this delightful Bentley Azure is finished in the best colour combination of Royal Blue with Parchment leather interior. The modest mileage of 64,700 is complemented with a service history, the car being recently serviced by Hanwell Cars in London, a well known and respected marque specialist. Open the door of this Azure and the opulence is immediately apparent, the flying ‘B’ etched into the headrests, leather in abundance, all of which is surrounded by ample walnut wood. These Crewe built Bentleys are becoming highly sought-after and offer enormous style and luxury, whether you are going to the shops or travelling to the Côte d’Azur, this low mileage Bentley Azure is just about the perfect vehicle.
