One man’s passion for over 50 years and now in need of a sympathetic hand to return it to top form.UK-supplied, right-hand drive DHC originally finished in Pastel Blue with Navy Blue leather and a Dark Blue HoodLaycock overdrive and wire wheels from new. Now painted in Triumph Sebring WhiteOwned by the late Harry Neville Harris (and family) since 20/07/1966Last MOT’d in 2005 at 70,034 miles. Large history file, displaying many years of care and enthusiasmA real Barn Find. Whilst complete with resident cobwebs, muck and dust, the car does appear to have been well stored and seems to be a fairly solid basis for restorationWith XK Jaguars remaining as popular as ever, PWT 777 on offer at No Reserve seems an unmissable opportunity.Jaguar Cars launched the XK140 at the London Motor Show in October 1954 with a raft of improvements over its predecessor, the landmark XK120. The styling was enhanced by a revised grille and larger bumpers along with new rear lights, which now incorporated the indicators. The handling was improved by rack and pinion steering and telescopic dampers and the interior space was enlarged to allow the addition of occasional rear seats. The power unit remained Jaguar's well-proven, 3.4-litre, twin-cam six, which now produced 190bhp in standard trim thanks to higher-lift camshafts and revised porting. To ensure reliability, steel bearing caps replaced the previous cast-iron type. A close-ratio gearbox enabled better use to be made of the increased performance whilst a Laycock de Normanville overdrive became an option for the first time. Special Equipment (SE) XK140s came with wire wheels and Lucas fog lamps and could be ordered with an engine developing 210bhp courtesy of a 'C'-type cylinder head. From Jaguar records we can establish that this venerable XK140 DHC was built in right-hand drive on 20/06/1955, finished in Pastel Blue with Navy Blue leather and a Dark Blue Hood. It was fitted with a Laycock overdrive and wire wheels from new and distributed through Appleyards in Leeds before being first registered on 30/06/1955.On offer from a deceased estate, this lovely XK was bought by the late Harry Neville Harris in 1966 (logbook stamped 20/07/1966) and has remained within his family ever since. The most recent MOT is dated 3rd September 2005 with the mileage stated as 70,034 and it’s understood that it was parked up not too long afterwards. At some point in the late eighties, Mr Harris appears to have been researching the history of the car prior to his purchase but without much success. He wrote to a lot of people (correspondence in the file) and a promising communication from the DVLC detailing previous owners is missing the vital page. There is a letter to an Edward Graves from whom Harry appears to have bought the car and the old ‘Buff’ logbook shows that Ralph A Clarke of Lowestoft is registered as the first owner (November 1963) and there is a letter on file from Jaguar to R A Clarke dated July ‘63 so he certainly owned it at that point. An HPI report in January shows just one former keeper before its transfer to Mr Harris's son in 2018, although this would appear to be incorrect. Another part of the mystery is that prior to Harry’s ownership the car was painted Triumph Sebring White, the colour it wears today. With its distinctive registration number (PWT 777) it should be possible to trace the car’s early life and it could be a fun project for its new owner. The substantial History File covers some 55 years with the family and includes rafts of photographs, MOTs, years of invoices, Buff and Green logbooks, Parts List, Wiring diagram, the original Maintenance/Service Handbook and even a fuel ration book which one would assume relates to the Suez crisis. Our vendor is not able to confirm that the Jaguar is a matching numbers car, there may have been an engine swap in the 1980s, and we hope to confirm this, one way or another, however, it seems that the car was finally parked in 2006 due to a clutch issue that would have required engine removal which doesn’t appear to have happened. This is a bit of a ‘Barn Find’, however, whilst complete with resident cobwebs, muck and dust, the car does appear to have been well-stored and seems to be a fairly solid basis for restoration. With XK Jaguars remaining as popular as ever, this original UK RHD project on offer at No Reserve seems an unmissable opportunity. SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: XK140 DROPHEADYear: 1955Chassis Number: 807181DNTransmission: MANUALEngine Number: G36288Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 71000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 248

This rare, mid-seventies, V8 GTB has been the subject of a simply breathtaking restoration.Very rare. Just 154 ‘Vetroresina’ (Italian for fibreglass) examples left the factory in right-hand drive destined for the UKThese early 308s are much sought-after being lighter in weight and equipped with carburettors and dry-sump lubricationDelivered to the UK in early January 1977 and registered to its first owner on 01/08/1977Owned by John Anderson, the Chairman of the Ferrari Owners Club for 20 yearsRaced in class ‘O’ (Originale) of the Ferrari Owners Club Championship from 1990 to 1995Acquired by our vendor in 2017 and subject to a comprehensive restoration at a cost of approximately £120,000 (fully detailed invoices)Supplied with the car is a packed history file with V5s, lots of old MOTs and Tax discs, copies of the Ferrari News, Classic Car Magazine from November 1997 featuring the car, reams of invoices from every era, race results, factory correspondence, a brand new Service Schedule/records handbook and best of all, a seriously impressive, A3 landscape, hardback, glossy photo-book displaying the restoration of #20521.We believe that this is the best vetroresina-bodied 308GTB available anywhereIntroduced at the Paris Salon in 1975, the stunningly beautiful 308 GTB, Ferrari's second V8-engined road car, marked a welcome return to Pininfarina styling following the Bertone-designed Dino 308 GT4. Badged as a 'proper' Ferrari rather than a Dino, the newcomer had changed little mechanically apart from a reduction in wheelbase, whilst retaining its predecessor's underpinnings and transversely mounted quad-cam, 3.0-litre V8, which now featured dry-sump lubrication. In road tune, this superbly engineered power unit produced 255bhp, an output good enough to propel the aerodynamically efficient 308 to a top speed of 150mph (240km/h). Produced initially with glass-fibre (Vetroresina) bodywork - the first time this material had been used for a production Ferrari - the Scaglietti-built 308 GTB using steel after April 1977. This change in construction brought with it a considerable weight penalty (around 80kg) and consequently a reduction in performance, as well as increased susceptibility to corrosion. Naturally, anyone wanting to race a 308 GTB started out with the Vetroresina version if they could. The car presented here is a 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina, a right-hand drive/UK-supplied matching numbers car, one of just 154 examples that left the factory in this configuration destined for the UK (only 712 Vetroresina 308 GTB coupés in total were ever produced).Ferrari 308GTB #20521 was built in 1976 and delivered to the UK market importer, Maranello Concessionaires in January 1977 to fulfil their order (F/112) for a RHD 308 GTB, presumably for stock. There is a copy of this order in the history file for a “308/GTB (RHD) complete with five cast-alloy wheels, tyres and toolkit, finished in Rosso Chiaro Ferrari 20-R-190 with Black Leather (VM 8500) and black carpets”. There is also a copy of the invoice (3/01/1977) from Ferrari to Maranello for a total of £6,744.00Some months later the car was purchased by a Mr CW Thompson of Sheffield and there is a similar invoice in the file (15/07/1977) from Maranello to him for £12,815.17. According to its current V5, it was initially UK-registered as TPB 650S on 1/08/1977.Perhaps Mr Thompson didn’t get on with it as it soon changed hands and, on 23/06/1978, John M Anderson became its second owner. John was Chairman of the Ferrari Owners Club and was to keep the 308 for just over 20 years. (Registered 47 JMA). At some point, he decided to race the car and it was race-prepared by Graypaul of Loughborough to run in Class ‘O’ (Originale) of the Ferrari Owners Club Championship from 1990. The modifications for this class were minor - (low front spoiler, racing seat and harness, half roll-cage, uprated shocks and a fire extinguisher)- and easily reversible. There is a set of seasonal race results in the file showing that#20521 took part in 50 races (1986/87 and ‘90-’95) with 21 podiums and only 1 DNF. 1995 appears to be his last season and there are invoices on file from Mortimer Houghton Turner (April 1996 - £16,763) for “post-racing refurbishment”.Now registered VOP 418S, the Ferrari was purchased in August 1998 for £25,000 by Mike Whitaker and within the file is a valuation report (4/09/2000 £29,000) in which Mr Whitaker states “I’ve spent £10,000 on a full mechanical (engine/gearbox) rebuild and reconditioned brakes”. On 5/11/2000, Jeremy Taylor became the proud new owner and applied his cherished registration, 53 JT.Our vendor acquired #20521 in 2017 (now registered VOP 418S again) and, aware how rare the 308GTB Vetoresina had become, commenced a total restoration effectively transforming the 308 from a rather tired example into what is, conceivably, the best right-hand drive example in the world. It would be wrong to try and paraphrase the detail of this restoration but suffice to say that the volumes of detailed invoices from Specialised Automotive Services of Clitheroe alone total £104,053. On the assumption that anyone interested in acquiring this world-class Ferrari will spend some time viewing it, an extra hour with the restoration file would be encouraging. There is a fairly recent (1/06/2018) invoice from JCT600 for £699 that details an annual service with fresh fluids and a ‘Health Check’ at 25,172 miles. The current indicated mileage is 25,175, however, bear in mind that the speedo head was changed at 62,000 miles meaning that the car has covered approximately 87,000 miles, completely academic given the restoration.Supplied with the car is a packed history file with V5s, lots of old MOTs and Tax discs, copies of the Ferrari News, Classic Car Magazine from November 1997 featuring the car, reams of invoices from every era, race results, factory correspondence, a brand new Service Schedule/records handbook and best of all, a seriously impressive, A3 landscape, hardback, glossy photo-book displaying the restoration of #20521.It’s simply not professional to say that this is the best Vetroresina in the world but, if it’s not, we would certainly like to see a better one. Everything that a sports car should be, dynamic, rewarding and stimulating.UK-supplied by Derek Warwick HondaPresented in the classic combination of Formula Red/Black over black hideRecently detailed throughout and ceramic-coated. WowComplete health check by renowned NSX specialist and ex-Honda F1 R&D Engineer, KazJust 32,270 recorded miles at time of inspectionValuable and totally appropriate registration number NSX 6 includedThe legendary Honda NSX (New Sportscar Experimental) was developed by the Honda Motor Corporation between 1984 and its eventual launch in 1990. With the NSX, Honda produced the world’s first everyday-usable supercar, which left the Italian competition for dead in terms of reliability, practicality and build quality. These same qualities make it a joy to drive and own today. Its revolutionary chassis and suspension – all aluminium like the bodywork – making the car very light and extremely strong, were perfected at Suzuka with input from three-times F1 World Champion, Ayrton Senna. The NSX featured a state-of-the-art, 3.0-litre, 24-valve, V6 'VTEC' engine (Variable Valve Timing), and despite being developed during F1's turbo-era, the engine was normally aspirated. Equipped with this new valve timing technology, the free-revving all-alloy unit produced 270bhp initially, which was good enough for a top speed of 168 mph and a 0-60 mph time of less than 6.0 seconds. Those performance figures put the NSX on a par with Ferrari's 348 GTB, but in terms of comfort, ergonomics, driving dynamics, and build quality, the NSX was in a different league entirely. Sadly, this superiority was not translated into sales, and by the time production ceased in 2005 fewer than 20,000 NSXs had been sold – consequently making them relatively rare and much sought-after today.Supplied by Derek Warwick Honda, this 170mph, mid-engined, automatic gearbox, aluminium legend, is believed to have had spells of ownership within the UAE and Ireland returning to the UK just prior to being purchased by our vendor in 2014.Rated as one of the most reliable, docile and cost-effective ‘supercars’ money can buy, this particular example is finished in Formula Red with Black hide and a black roof, as used by Honda to launch the car back in 1990. Upon its purchase, the decision was taken to ensure that every aspect of the car was as it should be, so it was immediately booked in for a complete health check by renowned NSX specialist and ex-Honda F1 R&D Engineer ‘Kaz’, however, such is the demand for his services that twelve months passed before its turn came around. Pronounced fit for purpose with any minor areas of concern attended to, the Honda has been used sparingly since and cherished to this day, remaining with an impressively low recorded mileage of just 32,270 at the time of inspection.Recently detailed throughout and ceramic-coated, this gleaming NSX presents superbly in every respect and will not disappoint. It’s accompanied by a large history file containing the original handbooks, invoices, MOT Certificates and various magazine articles, and the very valuable Cherished Registration Number, NSX 6, will remain with the car.A usable supercar that can be enjoyed for a local jaunt to the shops or pressed into service for that road trip into Europe, turning heads as it goes, this great NSX represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the defining performance cars of the 1990s at a very attractive estimate.  SpecificationMake: HONDAModel: NSXYear: 1991Chassis Number: JHMNA12600T001029Transmission: AutoEngine Number: C30A41000148Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 32200 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Rotisserie restored Challenger R/T with a 440 six-pack and manual gearbox. This 1970 R/T has been superbly restored in the US prior to being detailed to perfection in the UKFinished in Alpine White with a black roof and interiorFitted with a 440 six-pack and four-speed manual gearbox with a pistol grip shifterShipped to the UK in late 2018 and registered a year later when it had been detailed to the impressive level our vendor required50,273 miles indicated and recently MOT’d (February 2022)This is a superbly presented, well-engineered piece of AmericanaOffered here from the golden age of American muscle cars is the infamous Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack. For its introductory year in 1970, the Challenger was available in two series, Challenger and Challenger R/T and three models, two-door hardtop, Special-edition two-door hardtop, or convertible. The performance model was the Challenger R/T (Road/Track) with a 383ci (6.3l) Magnum V8 rated at 335bhp, however other engines were optional including the legendary 390bhp, 440ci (7.2L) Six-Pack. The RT was fitted as standard with a 'Rallye' instrument cluster that included a 150mph speedometer, an 8,000rpm tachometer and an oil pressure gauge. A 'shaker' hood-scoop was an option but was not available after 1971.In popular culture, the Challenger will always be associated with 'Vanishing Point', the 1971 American action film that starred Barry Newman as Kowalski, a disaffected ex-cop and part-time racing driver attempting to deliver a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T440 Magnum to California. It's now a cult movie but the Challenger is undoubtedly the star of the show. As a nod to Kowalski’s car, this example has been finished in gleaming Alpine White with a black vinyl roof and black graphics. Subject to a full ‘rotisserie’ restoration in the US and then perfected by one of the UK’s top restoration workshops, it can only be described as undoubtedly one of the best Challengers available today. In the history file is the original Chrysler Corporation build sheet and further notes from the US records confirm that, pre-restoration, it was a very well preserved example requiring only a new boot lid to ensure that the shut lines were perfect. As is often the case with a rotisserie rebuild, the underside is show-quality, remarkable. Naturally, the interior was fully restored to a factory-fresh standard and the original ‘Rallye’ instrument cluster was rebuilt. This RT originally came from the factory with a 335bhp engine but during the restoration it was converted to a 440 ‘Six Pack’. The original specification and build date of September 1970 lists high vinyl bucket seats, black vinyl roof and automatic transmission but it was more appropriate to mate the ‘new’ 7.2-litre with a four-speed manual gearbox complete with the iconic ‘pistol grip’ gear change. The car was shipped to the UK in late 2018 and registered a year later when it had been detailed to the impressive level our vendor required. The odometer currently indicates 50,273 miles and the car is accompanied by some US history, its Operators Manual and a fresh MOT valid until February 2022.Undoubtedly one of the best available anywhere and a must for any cult muscle Mopar collection.SpecificationMake: DODGEModel: CHALLENGER R/TYear: 1970Chassis Number: JS23NOB112248Transmission: 4 SPEED MANUALEngine Number: TBADrive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 50500 MilesMake: LHDInterior Colour: BLACK VINYLClick here for more details and images

The DB6 Mk 2 Vantage is one of the rarest David Brown era Aston Martins and the culmination of over a decade of engineering advancement.Chassis # DB6MK2/4256/R is one of only 71 DB6 Mk2s equipped with the Vantage engine by the factory when newSeemingly always a cherished example with several AMOC Concours successes in the 1970s and 1980sFinished in the beautiful colour combination of British Racing Green with Natural leatherAn original factory manual transmission example, the car retains its matching numbers Vantage engineSignificant recommissioning by Aston Martin Works including an engine overhaulOffered at a very competitive guide price and presented to auction freshly MOT’d with its V5 and an interesting history fileConsidered by many to be the last 'real' Aston Martin, the DB6 was launched in 1965 and replaced the DB5. The wheelbase was now 4" (100mm) longer than before, resulting in an extensive restyle with a more steeply raked windscreen, reshaped rear quarter windows, and a raised roofline which made the rear seats considerably more viable. Opening front quarter lights made a reappearance, but the major change was at the rear where a 'Kamm' tail with spoiler improved the aerodynamics, greatly enhancing stability at high speeds. The Tadek Marek-designed, six-cylinder engine, which had been enlarged to 3,995cc for the preceding DB5, remained unchanged and the power output on triple SU carburettors was 282bhp.By 1969, Aston Martin was winding down production of the DB6, which was now over a decade old, and as attention turned towards the newer, more modern-looking DBS, Aston Martin unveiled a final swan song - the DB6 Mk 2. Mechanically, the Mk 2 was largely unchanged from its predecessor; the Borg & Beck clutch plate was replaced by a 10.5-inch version, and the, previously optional, power-assisted steering was now fitted as standard. Both the ZF five-speed manual gearbox and the automatic transmission were available; however, a new option of Brico fuel injection was offered and fitted to just 46 cars. Visually, the new Mk 2 benefited from several DBS components utilised to keep costs down while subtly upgrading the look of the DB6. Most recognisable of these upgrades was the wider 8.15×15-inch Avon wheels, which necessitated flared front and rear wheel arches. Previously optional three-ear knock-offs were fitted as standard, and the interior was redesigned to more closely resemble the DBS - including trimming the front seats with pleated leather. As was customary for Aston, the Vantage engine was available as an option to those owners who wanted that extra power boost. Having evolved from the DB4 Special Series engine first seen in 1961, Vantage engines were fitted with three Weber carburettors instead of the standard two. In the highest ‘C’ state of tune, the DB6 Mk 2 Vantage engine now produced 325bhp as compared to the standard 282bhp.This very rare, desirable and simply lovely DB6 Mk2 Vantage was manufactured in April 1970 and records show that it was sold by HR Owen in London and registered in September 1970. The car was supplied by the factory with the Vantage engine and ZF manual transmission options, and was originally finished in Burnt Almond with an interior in Natural leather. It seems the car remained a cherished example throughout its life as the Aston Martin Owners Club (AMOC) Register notes that #4256/R enjoyed several club Concours successes in 1979, 1985, and 1986. Although it is unknown when the car adopted the lovely shade of British Racing Green it wears today, we imagine it was a regular at AMOC events and competed in many Concours events over the years, in addition to the events at which it was awarded a prize.More recently, the DB6 was acquired in August 1997 by an Aston Martin Owners Club member who resided near Birmingham, and he kept it for thirteen years until its most recent owner acquired it directly from them in May 2010. Soon after purchase, the Vantage was exported to the Middle East where it joined their significant car collection and remained on display in perfect storage conditions.Upon the cars return to England in 2018, Aston Martin Works were tasked with carrying out a significant recommissioning of the mechanicals, including an overhaul of the original Vantage-specification engine. Pleasingly, the work was carried out by Aston Martin technicians in the same facility in which the car was originally constructed.Of the 240 DB6 Mk2s produced, only 71 had the Vantage engine from new and less than half of those were right-hand drive saloons with a factory-fitted manual gearbox, which makes this example a very rare car. The Aston presents well in a delightful colour combination with a classic DB interior which proudly displays its original radio. We feel the car is competitively guided given its rarity and recent recommissioning by the ‘Works’. Freshly MOT’d, this beautiful DB6 is ready to be enjoyed by its next lucky owner.SpecificationMake: ASTON MARTINModel: DB6 MK2Year: 1970Chassis Number: DB6MK2/4256/RTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 400/4629/VCDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Tan LeatherClick here for more details and images

A rare, right-hand drive, manual gearbox, Mk2 with a very competitive guide. The rakishly elegant DB6 Mk2 was the ultimate evolution of David Brown’s iconic blood-line of 1960s thoroughbred Grand TourersThe Mk2 benefited from a host of detail changes and looked more purposeful with its wider tyres and gently flared archesRecently been cared for by world renowned experts, Aston WorksA full interior re-trim included in the extensive work carried outPresented to auction with MOT, History file and a NOVA CertificateAn exciting opportunity and worthy of any inspectionEntering production in July 1969, but not formally unveiled for another month, the rakishly elegant DB6 Mk2 was the ultimate evolution of the iconic Aston Martin DB4/DB5/DB6 line. Sharing the same sheet steel platform chassis with its immediate predecessor complete with all-round coil-sprung suspension (independent double-wishbone front, trailing arm/beam axle rear), four-wheel disc brakes and Armstrong 'Select-a-ride' adjustable rear shock absorbers, the newcomer nevertheless incorporated a host of detail improvements. Sharper and more responsive to drive thanks to wider wheels and fatter tyres (hence the need for its trademark flared wheel arches), the Mk2 also benefited from the provision of standard-fit power-assisted, rack and pinion steering. Automatic transmission remained a `no cost' option, whilst cars equipped with the five-speed ZF manual gearbox gained a lower first gear ratio and more positive Borg & Beck clutch. The fabulous Tadek Marek designed 3995cc DOHC, straight-six engine could be had with a nascent form of electronic fuel injection, however, the majority of buyers wisely opted for carburettor-fed variants in standard (triple SU, 282bhp) or high-performance Vantage (triple Weber, 325bhp) tune. Indeed, so troublesome did the AE Brico EFI system prove that several Mk2s were converted to Vantage specification by the factory. Revised seating, both front and rear, meant that the last of the classic DB-Series family could also lay claim to being the most comfortable. Only in production until November 1970, just 239 DB6 Mk2 saloons are thought to have been made (of which a mere 122 were, reputedly, to triple SU carburettor-fed specification).A copy build sheet from the accompanying history file lists chassis ‘4135/R’ as being delivered new to Halesowen in October 1969 with the reg number ‘WYL 150H’. The document also states this car was originally delivered in Celeste Blue metallic with a dark blue Connolly hide interior (although the bodywork is now finished in dark blue) and was specified from new as a ‘DB6 MK2 ZF Saloon spec’ and supplied with ‘Two front seat belts’, which were optional at the time.It appears this example spent time in collections throughout its life abroad but returned to these shores two years ago and has since been looked after by Aston Works in Newport Pagnell, the same facility in which the car was originally built. There are various invoices detailing the work carried out on the car available to view in the accompanying history file and its worth noting that ‘4135/R’ was the lucky recipient of a full interior retrim by ‘Works’ last year.Presented to auction with a fresh MOT (expires 11th Jan 2022), the aforementioned history file and a NOVA Certificate, which therefore means the new owner (if wishing to keep the car in the UK) will need to register it once again with the DVLA.A Mk2 in right-hand drive, with a ZF manual gearbox, benefiting from lots of recent attention at Aston Works is a very desirable motor car and at this very competitive guide price, 4135/R is an exciting opportunity and worthy of any inspection.SpecificationMake: ASTON MARTINModel: DB6 MK2Year: 1969Chassis Number: DB6MK2/4135/RTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 400/4372Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 95000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Navy LeatherClick here for more details and images

Clearly cherished and well cared for, this is a delightful example of a rare and desirable, high-performance Bentley.Originally supplied by Mann Egerton, London in June 1992Superb throughout being finished in the desirable combination of Balmoral Green with magnolia hideThe 325bhp, 6.75-litre turbocharged V8 offers 150mph and 0-60 in 6.6secsComprehensive service history supporting the indicated mileage of 46,900Recent MOT issued without advisoriesWe welcome any inspection of this splendid motor carAlthough launched at the Geneva Salon of 1991, many elements of the John Heffernan/Ken Greenley-penned Continental R had been seen at the same event as far back as 1984, when Bentley unveiled their `Project 90' concept car; a suitably enthusiastic reception leading the company to develop the car for production. Clearly, the Sultan of Brunei approved of the end result, as he bought the 1991 show car at the exhibition. The new car was based on the Turbo R floor-pan and powered by that model's 6.75-litre turbocharged V8 engine, which was believed (the Rolls-Royce/Bentley company of the day never quoted horsepower figures) to produce in the region of 325bhp fed through the, then new, four-speed GM 4L80-E transmission. Whatever the power output, it was sufficient to give a top speed of some 150mph and a 0-60mph acceleration time of around 6.6 seconds - no mean feat for a car weighing in at some 2.5 tons and the best of any Bentley in its day. Unlike all other Bentleys since the S3 of 1965, its body was unique to the marque and not shared with any model of Rolls-Royce. All Continental Rs were finished and trimmed by Rolls-Royce’s Mulliner Park Ward subsidiary and carried MPW builder’s plates, with the bodies being assembled by hand from machine-pressed panels. The Continental R was produced from 1991 to 2003, during which time some 1,290 of these exclusive motor cars found comfortable homes. This superb example was originally supplied by Mann Egerton, London in June 1992 finished in Balmoral Green with Magnolia Hide piped in green, Spruce detailing and Conifer carpets with matching Lambswool over-mats. Accompanying the car is a detailed and comprehensive service history showing visits during its early years to Mead Bentley and Broughtons, with attention being paid in later years by Specialist Cars in Exeter, Devon resulting in all things mechanical being in excellent order. The last MOT Certificate on file was issued on 26 Sept 2020 (without advisories) at an indicated mileage of 46,849, with just 60 miles having been covered in the intervening period. Included in the history file is a valuation from the Bentley Drivers Club dated October 2020 suggesting an insurance value of around £45,000.The remainder of the Continental R presents beautifully with exceptional paintwork and an interior that is, as you might expect, from a ‘gentleman’s carriage’ that cost some £170,000 new and has covered less than 50,000 miles since. This is a cherished and well cared for, low mileage example of a rare and desirable, high-performance Bentley and we strongly advocate that you take the opportunity to come and closely inspect this remarkable car.BENTLEY CONTINENTAL R – J844 HGHDate of First Registration ; 17/06/1992Service History17/02/93 - Mead of Burnham @ 1270 miles10/09/93 – Mead of Burnham @3174 miles08/04/94 – Mead of Burnham @ 3975 miles04/10/94 - Mead of Burnham @ 5998 miles11/04/95 – Mead of Burnham @ 7565 miles27/12/95 – Mead of Burnham @ 10043 miles03/07/96 – Mead of Burnham @ 11891 miles11/03/97 – Mead of Burnham @13984 miles27/01/98 – Mead of Burnham @ 16185 miles07/09/98 – Mead of Burnham @ 17448 miles01/11/99 – Mead of Burnham @ 19724 miles17/07/00 – Broughtons of Surrey @ 21338 miles14/05/01 – Broughtons of Cheltenham @ 21814 miles11/03/02 – Broughtons of Surrey @ 22929 miles02/12/02 – Broughtons of Surrey @ 23413 miles03/06/06 – Straight Eight New Forest @ 24745 miles04/05/07 – Specialist Cars ( South West ) @ 28228 miles06/06/08 – Specialist Cars ( South West ) @ 31820 miles11/05/10 – Specialist Cars ( South West ) @ 32345 miles11/02/14 – Specialist Cars ( South West ) @ 35495 miles08/09/14 – Phantom Motors @ 39312 miles30/10/15 – Specialist Cars @ 43571 miles10/09/18 – Specialist Cars @ 45739 milesSpecificationMake: BENTLEYModel: CONTINENTAL R MULLINERYear: 1992Chassis Number: SCBZB03A5NCH42069Transmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 76738L4101/TKNDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 46910 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Magnolia piped Green LeatherClick here for more details and images

A rare low production model and in a very desirable specification.Regarded as one of the last 'real' Bentleys, the flagship Bentley Continental R Mulliner was introduced in 1999 and manufactured until 2003 by Bentley Motors in CreweTurbo-charged 6.75-litre V8 offers 420bhp and a staggering 650 Lbs/ft of torque. 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of over 170 mphOne of just 131 examples produced and historically significant as one of the last hand-built Bentleys produced before the company's acquisition by VolkswagenPresented in the stylish combination of Metallic Blue paintwork with a cream leather interiorJust 43,809 miles covered; full service history, with 12 Bentley service stamps in original service booklet; major service at 41,259 miles costing £5,200 with a new head gasketOn offer from a privateer vendor and kept in a temperature-controlled garage and rarely used but started on a regular basisAll relevant service history, paperwork, owner’s manuals, and bills accompany the carIntroduced in 1991, the Continental ‘R’ was the first Bentley in 26 years to not share a body style with a concurrent Rolls-Royce and was inspired by the highly collectible Continental R-Type of the 1950s. The elegant two-door coachwork was styled by John Heffernan and Ken Greenley, a duo whose résumé included sports cars like the Aston Martin Virage. Five years later Bentley introduced a short-wheelbase version dubbed the Continental ‘T’ that was equipped with an uprated engine developing 420 hp and an impressive 650 foot-pounds of torque available at only 2,200 rpm.Bentley customers soon expressed interest in equipping the “wide-body” Continental R model with the T’s more powerful engine, and the Continental R Mulliner was consequently introduced at the 1999 Geneva Salon. The nomenclature was an homage to H.J. Mulliner, the British coachbuilder responsible for the original R-Type’s breath-taking fastback bodywork. The R Mulliner’s wide-body configuration offered spacious interior elegance, whilst the twin-turbocharged V8 could rocket the car to a top speed of nearly 170 mph, with brisk 5.6-second sprints to 60 mph from standstill. Individually tailored to customer order, the R Mulliner was Bentley’s ultimate 20th-century combination of luxury and performance, produced in a modest quantity of as few as 131 examples. Without question one of the finest Bentleys ever made, the Continental R is also historically significant as one of the last hand-built Bentleys produced before the company's acquisition by Volkswagen. The car presented here is a 2001 Bentley Continental ‘R’ Wide-bodied Mulliner Coupé (SCBZB25EX1CH63540) that has covered just 43,765 miles over the last 20 years in the hands of four previous owners, the current one since 2016.Our knowledgeable vendor knows the areas of potential concern with these special cars and consequently he had the sills/underside inspected as they were showing some minor scabbing. As a result, he had these professionally removed and replaced two years ago and, similarly, with head gaskets having been known to occasionally fail, during a routine service at Bentley Manchester, they fitted a new head gasket (£5,200) solely for peace of mind. The dealer's list price for these cars was a, not unsubstantial, £225,000 when new, with the entire production run (1992-2003) amounting to just 131 examples in 'wide-body' configuration. In exceptional condition throughout, having been maintained and stored regardless of cost, and in a delightful colour combination, this elegant Bentley is accompanied by a total and comprehensive service history including detailed invoices and numerous MOT Certificates. Our vendor is a long-term Bentley enthusiast and although the car is regularly used, it remains beautifully presented.
