Mounted, framed and glazed, overall size 65 x 49.8cm. In excellent condition. The present lot is part of a series of 150 bearing Arabic numerals and conceived in 1980. A second series comprises 30 plates featuring Roman numerals. The composition is included in the catalogue raissonne of Gunther Grass`s works of art, edited by Hilke Ohsoling, Gottingen, Steidl, 2007, Vol. I (R. 154, pp. 312-313).

Highlights include a 1911 signed gelatine silver print photograph signed and signed by Beatrice Harrison; Christmas Cards from Queen Maud of Norway thanking them for Christmas gifts; postcards from composers Ernest Walker, Cyril Scott and Zoltan Kodaly, the latter expressing thanks and good wishes and proposing a possible trip to see Beatrice in the future; a postcard from the English pianist Katherine Goodson apologising for mistakenly taking Beatrice`s ""precious little duster""; a letter signed by John Gielgud expressing his opinion that ""the opera prduction is very full of imperfections and compromises"" but that the"" grandeur of the music covers a multitude of sins""; several postcards documenting the many European tours undertaken by Beatrice and May; a musical score for the song ""Red Roses"" composed by Frederick Delius written in black ink in the hand of either his wife Jelka or assistant Fenby and performed in 1929 by May Harrison; 62 postcards, some signed by Beatrice on front but mostly unsigned, issued for the Nightingale Festival in May 1933; one Royal Christmas Card for 1951-52 signed ""Mary R."" in ink.
