The issue follows the type of the famous Marcus Antonius legionary denarius, minted between 32 and 31 BC; the reverse recalls the Legio VI Ferrata, moving with Antonius and previously recruited by Cesar. This legion was famous for having fought at Actium against the twin Legio VI Victrix, recruited by Octavian in 41 BC, composed of Caesar’s veterans, and loyal only to the future Augustus.
