Illustrated Footnote history: Violet Astor, Baroness Astor of Hever (28 May 1889 - 3 January 1965) was married twice, first to Lord Charles Petty-Fitzmaurice and then to John Jacob Astor, 1st Baron Astor of Hever. Astor was the mother of five children, including George Petty-Fitzmaurice, 8th Marquess of Lansdowne and Gavin Astor, 2nd Baron Astor of Hever.

Both volumes contain a woodcut illustrations on a title page, as well as number of etchings illustrating the views of the spas and duo chrome maps of the areas. Gilded and embossed full Morocco bindings decorated with double frame, scrolling vines and a crowned V on each side. Intricate embossed gilt titles and decorations on spines. All edges gilt. Konashevich was one of the greatest modern Russian children`s book illustrators. He illustrated works by S. Marshak, K. Chukovsky, Alexandre Pushkin, Charles Perrault, Hans Christian Andersen and many others. His first masterpiece, Azbuka v Kartinkah, was his affectionate homage to Alexandre Benois` 1904 picture book of the same name. It demonstrates the artist`s mastery of line and color in the in the tradition of the Mir Iskusstva, [World of Art] group of artists whom he joined in their twilight years.
