MASAAKI HASEGAWA (Tokyo, Japan, 1987)."13F19". Series A-B-S-S-T-R-A-C-T, 2019.Acrylic on canvas.Attached certificate issued by the artist.Signed in the lower right corner. Signed and dated on the back.Measurements: 101 x 120 cm.The artist's website dedicates these words to the work: "Pain is a simple word, but there are so many different types of pain. This artwork represents a memory with pain that is repressed and locked in a small box in the mind, so much so that you don't remember it every day. However, the memory itself remains in the mind for so long that it creates pain without you even realising it. The Abstract series to which this work belongs visualises human emotions that are not easily captured in words. It challenges the linguistic perception of oneself and is an attempt to label the phenomena of the human mind. Through the process of creation, it tries to reduce the amount of conscious intensity of the human attempt to make something perfect in order to extract the unconsciousness, which it can handle to gain more information and allows access to the essence of human experiences / Seeing humanity as a small part of the universe. partially experiencing universal phenomena the process of creation tries to incorporate the essence of nature/universe in an attempt to turn inorganic materials into organic beings.Linked to the world of sports, after winning the Japan Inter High School Taekwondo Championship, Masaaki Hasegawa began his career as a professional MMA fighter in Japan, while studying finance and earning a degree in International Business. He then began his career as an investment strategist at Daiwa Capital Markets. However, he changed his life to devote himself fully to art, focusing especially on conceptual art. In his artistic work he founded Creatvida in 2014, which is a platform that hosts different creative profiles worldwide. In 2015 he published his first book "Yes, you are creative" and, in 2016, the second book, "New paradigm of creativity", in addition he also leads the project "Connect People Thru Art Beyond Borders" and is an advisor to the Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy in Moscow. His work has been exhibited at the Bauhaus Center in Tel-Aviv, Paper Pavilion in Madrid, Urvanity Art and We Crave, and he has intervened in Google installations. Masaaki Hasegawa has also created the largest calligraphy work in Europe on the roof of the Zapadores Museum in Madrid.

PIERCE JOHN R.: (1910-2002) American engineer and author of science fiction who worked extensively in the fields of radio communication, microwave technology and computer music. Pierce coined the term transistor. A good T.L.S., J. R. Pierce, one page, 4to, Murray Hill, New Jersey, 31st January 1956, to Henri Corbiere, on the printed stationery of Bell Telephone Laboratories. Pierce responds to his correspondent's enquiries in four numbered paragraphs, in part, 'I became known in science entirely through my work at the Bell Telephone Laboratories. This has been my only source of income. I was educated largely at the expense of my parents, although I received some university support during my graduate years. I think that my work leading to the “Pierce gun” is most widely known. I have also become known through my work on traveling-wave tubes. I do not consider any of my work a masterpiece. Rather, I believe that I have done a good deal of analytical work in the field of high frequency vacuum tubes which has been in the forefront of contemporary work……Jacques-Louis David….is perhaps not one of the great geniuses of painting but his pictures are always professionally expert. If I can approach such expertness in my field of engineering, I feel I will have accomplished enough'. A letter of interesting content. VG

During the mixed fight that ensued, we discovered one E.A. well away from the others about 1000 ft. below us. We dived, putting in a burst of twenty rounds at about 200 yards range. The E.A. thereupon pulled up and turned towards us, climbing hard. We dived straight at him, putting in another burst of about 40 rounds……The E.A. thereupon fell over on its side and fell over into a slow spin, obviously out of control. We were unable to watch it long…….but when last seen this E.A. was still spinning slowly'. Signed by Park at the foot confirming one decisive victory. BURGESS GUY: (1911-1963) British diplomat and Soviet Agent, a member of the Cambridge Five spy ring that operated from the mid-1930s to the early years of the Cold War era. PHILBY') within a decorative border and is neatly affixed to the front pastedown. Bound in the publisher's blue cloth with title to spine and with a small Foyles bookshop sticker affixed to the lower left corner of the front pastedown. Lacking the dust jacket. An interesting association copy bearing the rare signature of Burgess. Some fading to the spine and boards and with some light overall age wear, G It was Harold Adrian Russell 'Kim' Philby who, in 1935, recommended to Soviet Intelligence that they recruit Guy Burgess as an agent. Philby was also responsible for tipping off Burgess (and the spy Donald Maclean) that they were under suspicion of espionage, prompting them to defect and flee to Moscow in May 1951. In the biography Guy Burgess - The Spy who knew Everyone the authors Stewart Purvis and Jeff Hulbert write that Burgess adopted a pseudonym in order to prevent a wider knowledge of his whereabouts in Moscow, explaining 'He gave himself the first name Jim, after Jim Lees, the former miner who'd been at Trinity with him. The surname he adopted was Eliot, apparently after the female author of Middlemarch known as George Eliot. To fit with the Russian style of having a patronymic as a middle name, he should have Russianised his father's name Malcolm, but it was easier to use a character from War and Peace, Andrei, and use Andreyvitch instead. Thus Guy Burgess was also 'Jim Andreyvitch Eliot', sometimes Elliot and even Elliott'.
