NOTE: Wolfgang Unzicker (1925-2006) was one of the strongest German chess Grandmasters from 1945 to about 1970. He decided against making chess his profession, choosing law instead. Unzicker was at times the world's strongest amateur chess player, and World Champion Anatoly Karpov called him the "world champion of amateurs". In this letter he gives the full notation of two short games he had played in 1948.

NOTE: Manuscript 'antiphonary' presenting the text of Psalm 94 which seems to be repeated a couple of times as if it were some sort of writing exercise (?). The lower margin of the first leaf contains the exhortation from Matthew 11:28: "Venite ad me omnes qui laboratis…" No provenance known.

NOTE: The engravings depict all kinds of atrocities by the protestants against catholics in England, France and the Low Countries during the Eighty Years War, including the execution of Maria Stuart (p. 83). The plates are not signed, but several images are said to be made by Jean Wierix. Each engraving is accompanied by a few verses of explanatory text by Jean Boch (1555-1609). Richard Rowlands, alias Verstegen/Verstegan (London 1550 - Antwerp 1641), participated in propaganda activities throughout Europe against the Protestants. Interleaved copy.
