WWII Second World War Interest - a large Japanese single panel flag, reputedly present at the Surrender Ceremonies in Seoul, Korea during 1945. Accompanied by an old tag which (slightly illegibly) reads ' Japanese surrender flag was obtained on 9th September 1945 and gifted to Lt General J R Hodges unit...... (illegible)'. Also accompanied by a later typed note which goes into further detail regards the flag and Hodge, in part reading 'Taken on the 9th September 1945 and was obtained....(by) Lt Gen John R. Hodge... the surrender ceremonies were in the Government Building at Keijo Korea, 9 September 1945 where Hodges was present to witness the signing....' Cutts was Flight Officer of 222 Squadron, Hornchurch, and was killed when his aircraft was shot down on 4th December 1940. Measures approx; 82cm long.

Ruwenzori Expedition.- Transactions of the Zoological Society of London. Volume XIX., 23 chromolithographs, 1 lithograph, very faint off-setting, contemporary half-calf, gilt, a little rubbed, 4to,1909-10.⁂ The 'Rwenzori Mountains' also known as the 'Mountains of the Moon' are on the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. R. B. Woosnam led an expedition on behalf of the Natural History Museum, in the years 1905-06, in order to collect and catalogue specimens for the museum.
WW1 Prussian Regimentally Marked M-15 Pickelhaube, leather bodied helmet with grey metal other ranks Prussian helmet plate to the centre. Complete with grey front trim, rear spine, circular spike base with domed rivets and removable spike. Helmet is complete with a pair of Reichs and state other ranks cockades but no chinstrap. Interior retains the original leather liner. Rear peak is stamped “BA VII 1916” and also “R AR7”. Behind the helmet plate section of the interior is a owners name label with printed details “Mustetier Becker 8. Kompagnie 10 Rtein Infanterie-Regts nr 161”. The difference in markings would probably indicate that this helmet was refurbished with M-15 grey metal mounts.
WW2 Third Reich SA Sports Badge in Bronze by R Sieper & Sohn Ludenscheid, with pin fitting to the reverse. Much of the bronze finish remains to the award. This item was brought back to the USA from Germany in 1945 by a American GI from Pennsylvania and has laid undisturbed until his trunk of souvenirs were found after his death.
