The artist Roberto Bompiani worked in Rome throughout most of his life. He painted a number of notable portraits in the 1870's including a Portrait of Queen Margherita (1878) at the Palazzo di Montecitorio and various portraits of the Borghese Family. In 1872 he exhibited at the Mostra Internazionale of Vienna, where he won an award for his Portrait of Giovanni Battista Canevari (Accademia di San Luca, Rome)

Patton, "To Lord Rodney Adm of the White Lord Hood Sir Francis Samuel Drake Bar. Rear Adm of the Blue, Sir Edmund Affleck Bar. Commodore. The several captains and officers of His Majesty's fleet under their command, breaking the line of the French fleet under the command of the Admiral Count De Grayse, on the 12th April 1782", 46 x 54cm, both framed and glazed.
