Brigadier C R Britten, OBE, MC, a Military Cross group of ten medals to Brigadier C R Britten, Grenadier Guards comprising OBE (Civil), Military Cross, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal 1914-20, Victory Medal, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-45, Coronation Medal 1937, Coronation Medal 1953, Jubilee Medal 1977. Contained mounted within a glazed frame Provenance: Charles Richard Britten was the son of Rear-Adml Richard Frederick Britten (c.1843-c.1910) he saw service with the 4th Battalion Grenadier Guards (3rd Guards Brigade, Guards Division), 1914 - 1918, including involvement in the Battle of the Somme, 1916, and in fighting at Bourlon Wood, November 1917; Citation for MC London Gazette, 14 Nov 1916, Lt. (temp. Capt.) Charles Richard Britten, G. Gds. For conspicuous gallantry in action. He led his company with great courage and initiative. He personally organised bombing parties, and succeeded in obtaining complete mastery over " No Man's Land." Later he led another attack with great gallantry.
Sir Arthur Stockdale Cope, PRA (British, 1857-1940) Portrait of Charles Richard Britten (1894-1984) as a small boy, aged 10, in a sailor suit signed lower right and inscribed with title "C R Britten, A S Cope, 1903" oil on canvas, oval 53 x 44cm (21 x 17in) Provenance: By descent within the family of the sitter. Charles Britten was later Brigadier Britten, MC. 1935 – 1937 Commanding Officer 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards 1937-1939 Commanding Officer Grenadier Guards and Regimental District 1937-1940 Commanding Officer 1st London Brigade 1940- 1941 Commanding Officer 167th Infantry Brigade. Queen Victoria much admired Sir Arthur Stockdale Cope's work. Condition appears fine.

A pair of silver candlesticks in the 18th Century manner, on circular bases (Birmingham, 1911) together with a modern silver photograph frame and a modern silver photograph frame timepiece, the clock inscribed "R. Carr" CONDITION REPORTS Candlesticks approx 23.5cm high - both with wear and scuffs, rubbing to marks, some knocks and dents, and one candlestick very heavily worn, dented, and with extensive splitting and damage to top section. Frames with some knocks and wear and clock frame silver panels are coming away from the backing.
A Garrard wristwatch, the brushed dial set with Roman numeral markers and date marker inscribed verso "Cornwell Parker 25 Club Mr R Simms July 1995" CONDITION REPORTS The inscription to the back reads "Cornwell Parker 25 Club Mr R Simms July 1995". Watch with light general wear, plus a scratch to the back, but overall in good condition. The seconds hand is moving, however, we can make no guarantees as to whether or not in full working order.
