A Mid 20th Century English Walnut Cased Mantel Clock of 17th Century Design, No. 187861, the 6ins square brass dial with narrow silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals and matted dial centre, to the eight day three train movement striking and chiming on four gongs, contained in walnut case with low moulded bell top, gilt brass handle and moulded base, 11ins high, bears brass presentation plaque "To W. Moore...March 1950"Condition ReportThe case appears to be in overall good condition showing only slight edge knocks to the pediment, the front glass is intact and appears to be original likewise the two side glasses. The dial is original and appears to unrestored and is showing patination of age and general usage, the hands appear original. The clock has a brass plate to the front and is inscribed ' To W. Moore from Major, the Honourable H R Broughton to mark many happy years spent in close associate in the growing of orchids at Bakeham House, Englefield Green, Surrey, March 1950'. The key is present and the clock winds, runs and sets but should be regarded as untested.
