WWI TWIN BROTHERS CASUALTY GROUPS: VM and 1914-15 Star to J 15682 W P Hendon AB RN with death plaque, rp postcard of HMS Goliath written to him from his mother, another photograph of Goliath; VM and 1914-15 Star to 17030 Pte A H Hendon Som LI and death plaque - they were twin brothers. Both groups come with CWGC printouts. Walter Percy Hendon died 13/05/1915 aboard HMS Goliath, his twin brother died at Ypres 12/07/1916. The medals also come with a WWI BWM to 65465 Pte E W T Hendon Devon R (another brother) and 1914-15 Star to M2 099999 Pte S E Read ASC (a relative)
Order of the French Legion of Honour awarded to Jaques Vigas Esq. Mr Jaques Vigas, formerly "Piccolet" was reputedly a leading member of the French Pacifist Movement in 1914 and following the assassination of his colleague, moved to England with the assistance of the French government. Mr Vigas had a varied career as musician, film actor, hotelier and antique dealer. A bronze bust of him by Paul R Montford was exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in 1921. He is buried in Bristol under the name Piccolet

A Geo V 1821 pattern officer's sword of The R Artillery, straight SE fullered blade 34", by Batson London, etched with crowned R Arms, GVR cypher, winged lightning with Royal Artillery and cannon within scrolled, floral and frosted panels, regulation steel 3 bar hilt, wirebound fishskin grip, diced backstrap, in its leather covered scabbard (AF) with frog. Sword GC (some surface rust to hilt)
A 1796 pattern light cavalry sword, curved, fullered blade 32", by Dunderdale & Mabson, faintly etched with crowned GR cypher, 1801-16 R Arms, mounted Hussar and trophies, regulation steel stirrup guard with langets, one later engraved 23LD/A4, plain pommel and facetted backstrap, ribbed leather grip. Basically GC (cleaned bright overall, grip replaced)

Poster, LNER D/R 'Bulb Time In Holland - Via Harwich - Flowers In Bloom April & May', artwork by Yunge. An interesting view through the archway of an old building, across the bulb fields to a silhouette on the horizon of a windmill and church spires. Published by the LNER and printed by Chorley & Pickersgill Lithographers, Leeds. Slight loss bottom right, in margin just after the printers details, also very slight margin crinkling and a 2" tear near the right bottom, which has been repaired with museum quality tape.

Classic vista by this artist, of the busiest station in the UK in steam days as seen from the old signalbox that straddled the majority of tracks. West Country 34087, 145 Squadron dominates the scene with a Merchant Navy on a Waterloo bound express. Further steam and electric trains add to the view. Published by the Southern Region and printed by Waterlow. Good overall condition with a small, triangular area of loss top right and a few minor defects elsewhere on the edge.
