At Trafalgar on board the `Bellisle` (sic) R.N. and after Commandant at Portsmouth R. Artillery and after Chatham. Painted by C.K.B. Callard, 1779`, 26.5cm x 22.25cm, unframed Unframed, possibly trimmed from a rectangular image, some scratching and scuffing, the reverse of the card has major diagonal crease which is not visible from the front - ** General condition consistent with age

A SNIDER ENFIELD RIFLE. A Snider-Enfield rifle converted from percussion with 1859 Enfield on the action. 39"" barrel with sliding rear sight, steel ramrod and sling mounts. WD markings in various places, including R Crown M. Enfield, encompassing a broad arrow and WD. 54.1/4"" overall length. See Illustration.
A CASED PERCUSSION LONDON ARMOURY REVOLVER. A complete an in excellent condition Adams Patent five shot percussion revolver, number 24959. In the original box with bullets still wrapped in their paper covers, also the bullet mould and wad cutter. An oil bottle, powder flask, pricker and replacement nipples, cleaning rod and nipple spanner etc. Adams leather pouch with original percussion caps, keys for the lock etc. Retaining almost all its original blueing, except where rubbed in the case. Hardly used since its purchase by an Indian Army officer C1858, a civilian model from the London Armoury. On the frame is Adams patent B.9288 and the number 24959 also 24959 R on the cylinder. In a shield on the frame is L A C and a crown above. The rammer is numbered 12582, inline with Kerrs patent incorporated under licence. The Beaumont-Adams Double Action Revolver is in 54 bore (.44 approx) caliber, with a 5.3/4"" barrel and three grove rifling. See Illustration

It appears he could have been attached the Durham Light Infantry and died a POW in Poland 25/8/1918. Also served in the Royal Irish Regiment.

Aged 26 the son of William and Harriet Penfold, 91 Sydney Rd, Raynes Park, London. With the Kings Letter contained in the plaques card case.

Gnr/Bdr H T Hubbard 29 Independent Infantry Brigade RA. 4.2 Mortars. Noting service in Malaya 1947-49 and Korea 1950-53. The 29th Independent Infantry Brigade landed in Korea in December 1950. Comprised of 1st Battn R Northumberland Fusiliers, 1st Battn Glosters, 1st battn Royal Ulster Rifles, 8th Royal Irish Hussars, C Sqdn 7th Tank Regt, 45th Field Artillery Regt, 1st L A A Battery RA170th Mortar Battery RA. They fought in the Battle (3rd) for Seoul and the Battle of the Imjin River.

Unusually the same number on his Territorial Efficiency medal.

The British War & Victory pair, are correct as issued. Pte Coghlan served in France & Flanders from the 17/12/1915. later attached ASC as No M/307779.

A 1914 STAR TO AN OFFICER CASUALTY 1915. A 1914 Star named to Lt C R Shannon RE. Captain Cyril Raymond Shannon was serving with the 101st Field Coy, Killed in Action 4/10/1915 during the Battle of Loos. A Staff Captain who served in the Lines of Communication when he was killed, his body never found. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.

Sidney Davies Sewell TD was the eldest surviving son of Col Thomas Sewell of 29 Grosvenor Rd, Westminster SW London. F.R.A.S. Senior of the Broad arrow and Naval & Military Gazette. Late Commandant 4th Battn Essex Regt His mother was Elizabeth Zophia eldest daughter of George Burt a former Sherriff of London. Serving as a Major in the 3rd London Field Co, where he was awarded the Territorial Officers Decoration. Educated at Tonbridge School he was born 12/10/1875. Commissioned into the R Engineers (Volunteers) in June 1892. Promoted Lt in 1894 and Captain 1898. Promoted to Major in April 1910 then commanding the 3rd Field Force. Volunteered for service on the outbreak of the Gt War, he served in France from January 1915, being Killed in Action February 1915 near Ypres on the 18th. His Star and Victory Medal/Territorial Decoration has been known of for some years. A photograph of Mjaor Sewell is in the Tonbridge School, Gt War Roll.
