Walker [see illus] and many others, including c.42 small Ackermann subjects, many coloured, principally 19th Century (folio, approx. 90) * Lots 1521 to 1529 are from the collection of the distinguished military historian, the late William Young Carman, FSA, FRHS (1909-2003). Carman nurtured a keen interest in the subject from the 1930's and, after service with The Essex Yeomanry during the War, he joined the staff of the Imperial War Museum in 1950, subsequently becoming Deputy Director of the National Army Museum at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (later at Chelsea) until he retired. Carman made and sold his own flat and solid model soldiers and was considered a leading expert in military uniforms of the 18th- and 19th Centuries. He contributed many articles on the subject to the Journal of the Society for Army Historical Research. AN ALEXANDRITE AND DIAMOND CLUSTER RING the rectangular cushion-shaped alexandrite weighs 3.77 carats and is set within a surround of ten circular-cut diamonds, in 18ct. gold. Size R. Accompanied by report number 11160 from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory dated 22nd April 2015 stating that the rectangular cushion shaped alexandrite measures 9.6 x 8.9 x 5.8mm., weighs 3.77 carats and is a natural chrysoberyl alexandrite.
A SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND CLUSTER RING centred with a circular-cut diamond within a surround of six circular-cut sapphires and an outer surround of circular-cut diamonds, in 18ct. white gold, size S, together with a sapphire and diamond ring, set in gold, size N, and a ruby and diamond cluster ring, set with an oval-shaped ruby within a surround of circular-cut diamonds, in 18ct. gold, size R.
HENRY R. HALL (1859-1927); oil on canvas, mountainous loch landscape with Highland cattle in foreground, signed and dated '90, 60 x 90cm, framed. CONDITION REPORT: There are five small old patch repairs to the canvas, there is a tear upper right of approx 2 x 1cm, and a scrape thinning of paint just beneath, there is a double impressed mark to the left pushing through the canvas and splitting the paint, there is a small hole lower left, and overall in need of cleaning. The frame is a modern gilt frame.
A pre-1945 Rene Lalique opalescent glass circular bowl with moulded mistletoe decoration to the outside, signed R Lalique France and etched no.3223 to the base, diameter 23.7cm. CONDITION REPORT: There are areas of several scratches to the inside with one major, also some wear to the base and some minor areas of scratches. Rim is in good condition and generally the bowl is intact.

A George VI hallmarked silver four division toast rack of small dimensions, William Suckling Ltd, Birmingham 1941, an Edwardian VII hallmarked silver curved rectangular cigarette case decorated with bright cut foliate scrolls, with central rubbed monogrammed cartouche (catch af), Colen Hewer, Cheshire, Chester 1904, a silver backed oval clothes brush with garland decoration and initialled "E", J & R Griffin, Chester 1921, and a modern silver and wooden small bottle coaster, London 1998, combined weighable silver approx 4.72ozt (4).

CONDITION REPORT: The weight does not include the yellow metal band.

Pale grey (H & G milky blue) hexagonal frame type around Queen's bust, P.O control mark in red 'GENERAL POST OFFICE MAURITIUS' in crowned double circle with manuscript control signature 'L.M.C.P.' of Louis Martin Colonial Postmaster, Higgins and Gage B (Envelopes) 14, used envelope, cancelled by the barred numeral 'B32', with red oval 'Registered / Mauritius No. 22 AU 1891' alongside and large 'R' in black, addressed to Marseille, France with appropriate arrival datesatmp of Marseille of September 20 (?) on reverse, Sismondo 2002 colour photo-certificate states in good condition and genuine in all respects. H&G state about 50 envelopes were prepared, Sismondo states 'only 36'. Extremely rare in used condition Mauritius specialist piece (image available) [US8]
