Schneider zieht im Rheydter Haus Zwischenwände ein, lässt Hohlräume sowie tote Fenster entstehen und baut drehbare Räume, so wird das Innere zu einem Labyrinth, in dem der Besucher leicht die Orientierung verliert und klaustrophobische Gefühle entwickelt. Die Situation schürt Ängste und lässt dramatische Ereignisse befürchten. Nichts scheint sicher.In dieses Haus solle, laut Aussage des Künstlers, Hannelore Reuen - sein Alter Ego - eingezogen sein. Sie bewohne das Erdgeschoss, er kenne die alte Dame kaum. Die bekleidete Silikonpuppe aus dem Jahr 2001 zeigt die Kunstfigur Hannelore Reuen mit dem Gesicht auf dem Boden liegend, regungslos. Schneider erregt 2008 großes Aufsehen als er den Sterbeprozess eines Menschen ausstellen will. Tod, der gesellschaftliche Umgang damit sowie seine Tabuisierung sind Themen, die den Künstler beschäftigen.Hannelore Reuen könnte verstorben sein, so, wie sie daliegt. Vielleicht ist sie aber auch nur ohnmächtig. Gregor Schneider führt den Betrachter auch hier wieder auf unsicheres Terrain, wie mit seinen albtraumhaften Raumverschachtelungen.Gregor Schneider wurde 1969 in Rheydt geboren, studierte an den Kunstakademien in Düsseldorf und Münster sowie an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. Er bekleidet aktuell eine Professur für Bildhauerei an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf und gehört zu den wichtigsten Bildhauern Deutschlands.
