It being the first after Bissextile or Leap-Year: Fitted for all capacities within the Islands of Great Britain and Ireland. Also Chronological Observations of Principal Use, WITH Notes of Husbandry and `Highways`, Fairs and Marts, ALSO Directions and TABLES for many good Purposes. 54pp. Contemporary red morocco, richly gilt in emblematic Rococco style. Red and black text throughout. Hand-coloured Marbled end-papers. Pencil notes on preliminary blanks (dated 1845 and 1849), contemporary full leather rubbed and dry, more heavy scuffing and leather loss at edges. Cracked spine-hinges but binding is still holding firm. Clasp is missing. Light to moderate general age toning to text. Text-block is well sewn. Rider`s British Merlin was first published in 1656 and continued into the 19th century. Extremely scarce. This is the earliest available edition and only one of its kind to be found anywhere on the internet. Starting bid is set at the minimum AA reserve.
