Hans Rossbach complete collection of 80 Luftwaffe commemorative covers. We have just acquired a complete set of the Hans Rossbach Luftwaffe aces collection. It is the first complete set I have seen in over five years and is exceptionally rare. This is quite an incredible set of covers with over 270 signature of top Luftwaffe VIP's. It would be a great shame to break up these wonderful collectors' items so we would like to sell it complete. It took Hans over three years to assemble back in the 1970's. He personally visited all aces including great names like Willy Messerschmitt, Werner Von Braun, Herman Oberth, Albert Speer, Erich Hartmann, Adolf Galland, Gerd Barkhorn plus many more. There is even a cover signed by five members of Richthofen's original flying circus. Many of the individual covers are now worth well over £200 with the Von Braun and Messerschmitt now worth £1500. Other rare signatures include Rudel Batz, Hanna Reich, Hans Baur (Hitlers pilot), Matoni, Skorzaney, Kurt Tank. Lot 83

Saxon M-15 Enlisted Mans Pickelhaube of the 134th (10. Sachsisches) Saxon Infantry Regiment, leather bodied helmet with grey metal other ranks Saxon helmet plate to the centre. Grey metal front trim, rear spine, circular spike base with domed rivets and removable spike. Original Saxon pattern non-serrated cockades with leather chinstrap. Interior with the original leather liner. Stamped to the underside of the rear peak “134. R”. Some wear but generally still a good example.

Lot 93

WW1 German M-16 Camouflaged Steel Combat Helmet, good example with standard block form three colour camouflage paint scheme with thick black separation lines. Lower ridge and peak painted with a thick black line. Interior of the helmet retains the original leather sweatband and three leather liner pads. Shell is stamped “BF 62” and dome stamped “R 1 1 2 4”. Some scuffing to the exterior and wear to the leather liner pads but otherwise a good example.

Lot 110

Imperial German Prussian Regimentally Marked Bugle, fine brass and nickel silver mounted bugle with circular cartouche with Prussian eagle to the centre. Complete with its original mouth piece and hanging ring. Lower section is engraved with regimental details, “3 J R III.3”, Berlin makers details also engraved to the lower reverse. Small hole and some denting to the body, otherwise good example.

Lot 66

Prussian Steel Ersatz Pickelhaube Regimentally Marked to Infantry Regiment Nr 13 (1.Westfalisches), this untouched example still retains much of the original field grey paint finish to the exterior of the shell. Helmet has chemically darkened other ranks Prussian helmet plate to the centre which has been interestingly attached to the helmet shell using a screw and a flat head pin fitting (one or both possibly replaced at some point in the early part of its life). Helmet has a M-15 style spike but the spike shows no signs of being moved, much of the field grey paint finish remains to the base but the spike has a layer of surface rust. Interior of the helmet is also with the field grey paint finish. Helmet retains the original leather liner, however this is well worn and has come away in places from its felt band. The liner has remains of an ink regimental stamp “I R 13”. Interestingly in Michael Baldwin’s book “Feldzug 1915” on page 21, he shows a infantry soldier in regiment Nr 13 wearing one of these steel helmets in 1915, obviously this regiment was issued these at the time. The helmet shell in this example is taller than the standard shallower type associated with these steel helmet which would indicate possibly manufacture by a different maker.

Lot 54

WW1 German Prussian Other Ranks Souvenired Pickelhaube, an interesting leather shelled helmet with standard other ranks brass Prussian eagle helmet plate to the centre. Brass front trim, rear spine, circular spike base with domed rivets and short other ranks pattern spike. Helmet is complete with leather chinstrap but no cockades. To the underside of the front peak is inked details “SELENCY APL 3/16”. The rear peak is stamped with date 1905 and ink stamped with regimental details “10 II J.R.1. R”. Helmet is complete with the original leather liner. Exterior of the helmet has been polished and cleaned, but inside is untouched. Vendor states was on display in a Kent pub until the late 1990’s. Francilly-Selency was on the Somme sector, famously the Manchester regiment attacked what is now known as Manchester Hill in this area in 1917, does this possibly relate to this area or the name of the soldier who found the helmet, an interesting research project

Lot 121

Imperial German Bavarian M-1908 Other Ranks Field Grey Ulanka Tunic, good untouched example of an enlisted ranks Ulanka field grey combat tunic with crimson piped plastron front, piped collar, cuffs and rear. Tunic is complete with Bavarian state tunic buttons to the front, rear and pockets. Iron cross medal ribbon to one button hole. Complete with the original field grey enlisted ranks Uhlan pear drop shoulder straps with chain stitched “2” to the centre of each. Bavarian pattern rank chevron to one arm. Two piece cloth lining to the interior of the tunic. Lower section with wound dressing pocket. Large ink regimental stamping in block “2.U.L R 1908”, underneath this stamp is “5 E 1908 III”, large pink stamp with the letter “Q” and the other side stamped “BA 108”. The tunic does show some wear and has some moth damage to the rear, couple of Bavarian buttons also absent. A rare WW1 German field grey tunic.

Lot 53

Imperial German Other Ranks Pickelhaube, a good time capsule helmet which is a typical battlefield find. The leather bodied helmet is complete with the brass front trim, rear spine and chinstrap side fittings. The brass spike base with domed rivets and short pattern other ranks spike have been mounted onto the circular metal base which is normally found on the inside crown, this is something that seems to have been quite a common tendency to be done. Helmet has brass eyelets to the centre for the fitting of a helmet plate, this is now absent and has been so for a long time as no outline or impression seems to have been made to the front. Interior retains its original leather liner and the back peak is impressed with “11 J R 1899” to one side and “1 B” to the other. Rear peak is also stamped with date 1912 and “1.K I”. The leather shell has misshapen through age and the rear peak has a small area of damage and stitching fault.
