Lot 232

1966 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Transmission: manualMileage:68572The Aston Martin DB6 was launched at the London Motor Show in 1965, following on from the highly successful DB5, immortalised by the 1964 James Bond film 'Goldfinger'. The front of the DB6 was visually similar to the DB5 but closer inspection revealed quite a different car. The wheelbase was lengthened allowing additional passenger space in the rear along with a raised roof line. The profile of the rear quarter lights echoed those of the DB4 GT Zagato, a styling theme that continued through to the DBS and V8 models until production finished in 1990. Both front and rear bumpers were split into two pieces and the rear of the car was restyled with a Kamm tail which helped reduce aerodynamic drag and gave the car more stability at speed. The engine remained the same as the DB5 unit, a 3995cc twin overhead cam straight six, the Vantage version offering a claimed 325bhp.This fabulous example was registered new on 25th January 1966. Finished in Pacific blue over a black leather interior, this original manual, matching numbers, DB6 Vantage has been treated to various restoration work throughout its life. The engine has previously been treated to a comprehensive rebuild and circa 20 years ago the coachwork received extensive time and attention culminating in a bare metal respray, still retaining a deep shine and in good order. The seats have more recently been renewed, the leather is supremely soft and comfortable and the headlining, dashboard and door cards all present well. This DB6 is offered in good order throughout, the shut lines are good and the paintwork is bright. A nice usable example which can be enjoyed as is or lightly improved to bring it to its best.Having had just three previous owners from new the current vendor acquired chassis 2486/R in 1979 and has dry stored and used the Vantage occasionally throughout his tenure. In more recent times various maintenance work has been carried out including an extensive brake system overhaul where a new servo was fitted. Equipped with the desirable electronic ignition and a stainless steel exhaust system, this Aston produces a glorious exhaust note when on song and turns heads wherever it goes. Offered with a sizeable history file including sundry invoices, many old MoT test certificates, DB6 owner’s manual with relevant books, and the UK V5 Registration document.A genuine factory built matching numbers Vantage is a very sought-after specification indeed and this example, offered at a very attractive price should certainly not be overlooked. Interested parties should note that this Vantage is believed to have spent some time in Switzerland and due to the high altitude SU Carburettors were fitted for a smoother driving experience. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

1980 Ferrari 400i Transmission: automaticMileage:70503These magnificent 12-cylinder Ferraris have enjoyed cult status for some years now and the angular Pininfarina design was the motivating factor behind this front-engined masterpiece. The design was derived from the almost identical looking 365 GT4 2+2 which, itself, was based on the legendary Daytona. Production began in 1976 when Ferrari revealed its first car fitted with an automatic transmission, the 400, at the Paris Motor Show of 1976. The gearbox was a three-speed Borg Warner unit from General Motors, reliable and certainly able to take the prodigious amount of power available. The injection version followed with Bosch K-Jetronics. The interior was lavishly appointed with rich leather, fine wood and high-end carpet and, together with the long-legged gearing and engine, made for excellent long distance touring. Today, its sleek lines and relatively limited production numbers have made good examples very collectable commodities. This engineer owned example is described as being very original and has been used by our car enthusiast vendor for some long tours. We are informed that this handsome Ferrari is both original and has been well maintained. The switches and electrics work and the history file shows a recent service bill from R and D Automotive for £4,800. The car is presented with a new sets of tyres. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until May 2022. The recent values of the Ferrari 400i has been on the increase and this stunning example offered without reserve is surely worth investigating.

2004 Jaguar XKR Carbon Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:87016The XK8 is a grand tourer car that was launched in 1996 and was the first generation of a new XK series available in both coupé and convertible body styles and with the new 4.0 litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The 1998 XKR was introduced with a supercharged version of the engine. Both the XK8 and XKR are electronically limited to a maximum of 155mph; the top speed of its predecessor, the XJS V12, being 158mph. A navigation system and self-levelling xenon headlamps came as standard with the XKR with Jaguar's adaptive cruise control as an optional feature available on both models. Both come with all leather interior, burr walnut trim and side airbags. Jeremy Clarkson, during a Top Gear test drive, likened the interior of the original XK8 to sitting inside Blenheim Palace. The Carbon Edition was offered by Jaguar in 2004 with only 100 cars produced. A split of 50 convertibles and 50 coupés were built, with a bonus for the lucky clientele of an invitation by Jaguar to a complimentary short break at Skibo Castle or Bovey Castle to celebrate their new purchase. This rare, desirable 2004 XKR Carbon Edition was supplied new to a very high specification. Finished in black, the interior features Recaro embossed cream leather sports seats, carbon fibre dashboard and internal inlays, Jaguar steeled pedals, aluminium embossed door entry guards, cream carpets and leather door cards, Alpine stereo system, adaptive cruise control, full colour information screen with satellite navigation and black leather bound multi-functional steering wheel. The exterior is also well-defined with a modified nose with a bright silver mesh front grille, factory fitted 20-inch Sepang performance R split cast alloy wheels, four chrome exhaust tips, performance R embossed red brake calipers, rear parking sensors and the signature XKR body detailing and vents. This Jaguar XKR has covered approximately 87,000 miles from new and this year has been completely gone through having all necessary repairs carried out. The car is supplied with a UK V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2022 and handbook pack showing a full service history. This now highly rare, modern day classic offers a unique pathway into the heritage of Jaguar with quality examples such as this being sought after by Jaguar enthusiasts worldwide.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.
