§ John Robert Keitley Duff (British, 1862-1938) Highland Blackface Sheep being herded on a hillside signed lower right "R K Duff" oil on canvas, unframed 77 x 154cm (30 x 60in) Oil on canvas which is unlined. There are undulations across the surface. The paint layer has developed a network of prominent craquelure and stretcher bar marks. There is an old tear in the upper right corner which has been repaired with a piece of newspaper pasted into the reverse. The damage has been filled and retouched on the front. The varnish is glossy and even, there appear to be scattered retouchings across the surface.

They present the option for the baby to have been born male or female. The vendor's family supported Charles II in regaining the throne. Further to the current gift of thanks was his grant to the family to be armigerous in 1662 Other Notes: The V & A has a 17th century Belgian lace christening set of mittens, bib and hat given to them by the Reverend R Brooke

Vrients (Jan Baptista), Angliae et Hiberniae Accurata Descriptio Veteribus et Recentioribus Nominibus Illustrata, published Antwerp, circa 1612, fine hand coloured engraved map, extensively decorated with a strapwork cartouche, sea monsters, mermaids and Neptune, a genealogical 'family tree' of the Kings and Queens of England from William I to James I dominates the right hand side of the map, light overall toning, 440 x 575 mm, Latin text on verso This map first appears in Abraham Ortelius's atlas of 1606. This slightly later state shows the alteration to the central circular panel on the family tree which now states that James I is king of Britain and not king of Britain and France. Bassam, 1796, decorative engraved frontispiece with near contemporary dated manuscript ownership address and signature to verso, printed title with similar manuscript notations to verso, three leaf introduction, two pages of the introduction torn with slight loss, 106 pages of descriptive text, thirty-one (only) uncoloured engraved 'playing card' county maps, each with a card number to upper right, Monmouth, Radnor and Anglesey with 'royal' portraits, most maps printed in strips and bound 'concertina style' into binding, a few maps bound separately, printed 'explanation' sheet, a few maps frayed or torn with some loss, later (mid 19th century) ownership signature and address to verso of front endpaper, slight staining to pastedowns, 19th century morocco gilt, very slight wear at extremities, 12mo Rare. Only one known copy listed on Copac. Not recorded in Chubb or Skelton. A few of the 1780 editions of this volume, published by H. Turpin, have appeared on the market. One of the most recent was in these rooms in 2009. We can find no record of this slightly later 1796, edition published by R.Bassam appearing anywhere.
