Star & Garter Richmond VAD Cased Medal, brass and enamel medal engraved to the reverse “MRS VIOLET ELLEN HAMPTON V.A.D 16TH OCTOBER 1923 SEPTEMBER 1924”. Top is stamped J R GAUNT, LONDON. Housed in a fitted case. The Royal Star and Garter Home, Richmond on Richmond Hill, in Richmond, London was built between 1921 and 1924 to a design by Sir Edwin Cooper, based on a 1915 plan by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, to provide accommodation and nursing facilities for 180 seriously injured servicemen.

Reverse has brooch pin fitting and is engraved to the top “ETHEL SNOW”. Silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1918 and J R Gaunt & Son makers mark. One small area of enamel damage but otherwise very nice example.
