Indian School (19th Century) A Maharajah seated in a temple whilst dancing girls look on, inscribed in Devanagri script along the top edge, watercolour, 19 x 14 cm. The script is Devanagari, the language appears to be Avadhi.In approximate translation : "Prostrations to R ? mak ? Chaitra Month. Prostrations to R /macandra, and then just R / ma". One small area of rub/damage bottom right-hanjd corner. Edges scuffed and with one tear to the right-hand side.

Paint layer in fair and stable condition. A few areas of wear. Surface dirt and accrtions. There is some cracking to gilded slip, otherwise frame is in good condition.

A gentleman's gold cased, keyless wind, openfaced pocket watch, the replacement gilt jeweled lever movement detailed E & R S HARRISON, FINSBURY PARK, N, the enamelled dial with black Roman numerals and with blued steel hands, the associated earlier case with a scroll moulded border, gross weight of watch 105 gms.
