Thomas Edward Powell, Pte 25th Bn Royal Fusiliers, killed in action 24th June 1916 and commemorated at the Dar Es Salaam War Cemetery. The 25th (Service) Battalion (Frontiersmen) saw war service in East Africa, arriving at Mombassa 4th May 1915.

Pair: BWM, Victory (G53146 Pte F R Curtis, Midd`x R) VF, with miniatures, together with a lithographed letter from George V to P.O.Ws on their release 1918 and with typed name "No 53146 Pte F R Curtis, 2nd Middsx Regt", "The Queen joins me in welcoming you on your release from the miseries & hardships which you have endured with so much patience & courage...". This was the first ever mass communication from a reigning British monarch.

A Vic 1897 pattern infantry officer`s sword, straight, fullered blade 32½", by Wilkinson, no 36146 (for 1898) on backstrap, etched with crowned R Arms, VR cypher and wreath within scrolled foliate panels, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating crowned VR cypher, plain pommel, diced backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings. GC (lightly cleaned overall, some grip wire missing)
A scarce Ed VIII 1897 pattern infantry officer`s sword, straight blade 32½", etched with crowned R Arms, EVIIIR cypher and wreath within tightly scrolled floral and foliate panels, regulation plated hilt incorporating crowned EVIIIR cypher, wirebound fishskin grip, chequered backstrap, with leather knot in its leather FS scabbard. Near VGC, the blade retaining most original polish (a few small rust patches to edges). Plate 9
