A Rare Cased Pair Of 60-Bore Percussion Box-Lock Pocket PistolsBy Purdey, London, Circa 1851With case-hardened turn-off barrels each engraved with double lines around the muzzle, case-hardened border engraved rounded actions each signed in capitals over each side, case-hardened hammers and thumbpiece safety-catches, blued folding triggers and border engraved rounded butt-caps, the latter each with hinged circular butt-trap cover, finely chequered figured rounded butts, vacant silver escutcheons, and some original finish (one pistol with some old bruising): in original mahogany case fitted and lined in blue baize with accessories including miniature powder-flask retaining most of its lacquered finish, steel barrel-wrench and bullet-mould, nipple-key and turnscrew, the exterior of the lid with circular brass escutcheon engraved 'R. Blade 79cms. Good condition, chape secured to scabbard with tape.
India General Service Medal Suffolk Regiment for the Hazara Campaign in 1888, engraved naming in running script, “505 PTE W. LEEKS 1ST BN SUFF R.”. Medal in titled carboard case of issue inscribed with recipients’ details, case in good condition with some damage consistent with its age. James Leeks is confirmed on the medal roll of the 1st Battalion Suffolk Regiment for the medal and clasp, the roll notes that he died at Jhansi on 13th September 1889.
