A LAUNCHING MALLET FOR THE TELEGRAPH CABLE LAYER S.S. ELECTRA (1885), finely carved overall in fruitwood and inscribed around head R. NAPIER & SONS GLASGOW / S.S. ELECTRA 19th JANy. 1885 / EASTERN TELEGRAPH COMPANY LIMITED -- 12in. (30.5cm.) high, Usually based in Gibraltar, this 1,236 ton vessel enjoyed a long career and was not broken up until April 1923.

(21.5 x 37.5 x 23cm.)
A FINELY PLANKED ½IN.:1FT. SCALE MODEL OF THE CORNISH PILOT GIG NEWQUAY [1812], built by R. Philips, of lime, holly, spruce and mahogany, fully framed and with clinker-built planking, bottom boards, foot rests, thwarts and rowlocks for six oarsmen, finished in blue, white and varnish and mounted on two turned columns, display base with six oars and plate. Measurements overall -- 4 x 17¾in. (10 x 45cm.). Carrying box, historical notes and builder’s certificate, The Newquay, originally built by William Peters of St. Mawes, Cornwall, is still extant and is used for racing events.

Walters The first depicting a young gentleman wearing high necked collar, cravat, jacket before a burnt umber ground, the companion picture a lady with pink dress and curled black coiffured hair against a deep violet background, each mounted giltwood and gilt gesso carved frames, 20x19cm (2). CONDITION REPORT: Lot 39: Each good condition, portrait of lady with vertical line running beside face. Very difficult to see, rubbing to gilding on frames and cracks, I think they are painted on ivory, see image.

(illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Lot 390; Tea pot length from handle to spout 28cm, knob measures 28cm. Water jug 18cm high, each with cracking to ivory handle and finial. No inscription or monogram . Tea pot-R Coffee pot- S Bowl and jug-T Condition is good.
