The plaque now with soldered stand. Pte Smethurst of the 9th (Service) Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers landed in France 2.12.1915 and was killed in action 8.6.1917, aged 23 years, he is commemorated at the Ypres Menin Gate. £100-120

The revolver is embellished with attractive English scrollwork throughout and a silver cartouche to the carved walnut handle with shell motif. The top barrel flat is still clearly marked "J.
